Savage Beastfly Side Quest Guide – Silksong

The Savage Beastfly Side Quest in Silksong is a quest that rewards you with a Mask Shard to increase the Hornet’s health. To start, you’ll need to find and defeat the Savage Beastfly, then follow a series of steps to start the quest. This guide will walk you through how to start the quest, reach the fight, and fight the boss.

How to Start the Savage Beastfly Side Quest

First, you need to fight and defeat the Savage Beastfly in the Chapel of the Beast in Hunter’s March. This is the first step to unlock the Wish for this quest. After that, keep moving through the main story and defeat the Cogwork Dancers. Then, head to the Bellhart Wishwell and check the quest board to pick up the new quest.

Once you have the quest, fast-travel to Far Fields using the Bellways and make your way to the Fourth Chorus arena. With the Wish active, you’ll face the Savage Beastfly here instead of the usual enemies. Defeat it to get the Horn Fragment.

Important: Only the Beastfly in Far Fields counts for this quest. It drops a unique item called the Horn Fragment. Completing this quest rewards you with a Mask Shard, which can be used to finish one Life Mask and increase the Hornet’s health.

How to Defeat the Savage Beastfly

The Savage Beastfly fight has two main stages. In stage one her attack speed increases. The boss moves across the arena, sometimes close to the ground, sometimes at Hornet’s height. These fast, direct attacks test your timing and mobility, so stay alert and ready to dodge.

Stage Two starts once the Beastfly has taken enough damage. It summons backup enemies, and adds a heavy three-hit slam to its attack pattern. Now you have to manage both the boss and the extra enemies to survive. Here’s a breakdown of its main attacks and how to deal with them:

  • Ground Rush: The Beastfly flies low and dashes across the arena. Time a jump to avoid damage, and you can even land a quick hit as it passes.
  • Triple Crash: It flies in the air and crashes down three times fast. Use Swift Step to dodge to the side before each slam, then hit it a couple of times after the last crash.
  • Frenzied Roar: The Beastfly stops mid-air and roars, summoning more enemies. Keep dodging the falling cages and land your hits quickly.

During this attack sequence, the Savage Beastfly would stop mid-air and roar to summon additional foes into the arena. You can quickly land your hits, dodging the cages descending from above. These enemies include: Mawlings, small ground enemies that retaliate with spikes; Small Beastflies, swift dives and bombs at will; Vicious Caranids, an area damage flying enemy swinging its stinger.
