How to Get Top 5 Legendary Assault Rifles in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 never lacks Legendary guns because of the apparently endless mix of stats, parts, and manufacturer quirks. With that being said, though, certain of the Assault Rifles are indeed that much more special than others — not merely due to their varied models, but even due to the amount of damage they can unleash. These five rifles are among the most sought-after in the game due to the fact that they can shred through bosses and mobs both. Here’s why they’re so special and where to grow them.

Aegon’s Dream

  • How to Acquire: Drops from Horace in Horace’s Oversight (Hungering Plain, Fadefields) upon finishing the main quest Down and Outbound.

A direct reference to Game of Thrones, Aegon’s Dream is an Easter egg that goes beyond just being a novelty. This Vladof rifle switches back and forth between Incendiary and Cryo shots — it burns the first bullet, freezes the next, and so on — and is a hellfire for enemies that cannot cope with persistent elemental stress. With its high fire rate and magazine capacity, it’s basically a Gatling gun of ice and fire. Perfect for element stacking damage builds.

G.M.R.

  • How to Get: Farmed in Driller Hole (Queen’s Cradle, Tonnage Peel, Carcadia Burn) after main mission Unpaid Tab.

The G.M.R. is a Sniper-Rifle hybrid of an Assault Rifle. Zooming doubles the damage of the weapon but comes at the cost of higher ammo consumption and a reduced rate of fire. What you have to gain for it is a very accurate aim and a gun that just slaughters with crits. It’s not suited for fast-paced, insane combat, but for players who prefer to stay at a distance and be steady, the G.M.R. is ruthless.

Lumberjack

  • Where to Find: Dropped at The Pitted Stain, a Ripper Drill Location in Idolator’s Noose (Fadefields).

The Lumberjack doesn’t shoot bullets — it shoots whirling sawblades. They ricochet off walls and settle into enemies, dealing huge amounts of damage over time. It’s nasty, it’s ugly, and it’s a hoot to use. Not the most effective against every enemy, of course, but perfect for crowd control and shreds tougher mobs once the blades are spinning.

Oscar Mike

  • How to Get: Dropped from Genone in The Yawning Yard (Lopside, Carcadia Burn) after finishing the side mission Fault Finding.

Oscar Mike is as flashy as its name. Its Alt-Fire is a space laser that shoots every 0.2 seconds, essentially an in-game mini nuke you can use once per minute. The ability gets better based on your gun damage buffs, so it only gets better with time. On top of that, its Tactical Rounds perk gives the first half of every magazine bonus damage, making the rifle deadly even when you’re not calling down orbital strikes.

Lucian’s Flank

  • How to Get: Farmed from The Meathead Riders in The Old Scrape, a Ripper Drill Site in Cuspid Climb (Terminus Range).

Another Vladof giant, Lucian’s Flank, survives on crits. Each critical fire fills up to two bullets in the clip, so you can essentially fire away with no reloads ever as long as your aim is good. Combine this with its already high fire rate, and you have a rifle that’s essentially a never-ending stream of lead. Variants offering additional barrels to fire even faster don’t do it any harm either, making Lucian’s Flank perfect for close-to-mid, aggressive playstyles.
