During your time in Silent Hill f, you will come across a strange puzzle called the Secret Box in one of the classrooms. It looks like an ordinary wooden box, but to unlock it, you will need to slide panels in the correct order across different sides. This guide will walk you through the correct panel movements for all difficulties so you can unlock the box and continue your journey without getting stuck.
Secret Box Classroom Puzzle Solution (All Difficulties)
The puzzle has three versions depending on the difficulty you are playing on, Story, Hard, and Lost in the Fog, and each one adds a bit more challenge. No matter which difficulty you are on, the goal remains the same: solve the box in three steps using clues from letters you receive after each stage.
Story Difficulty
In Story difficulty, you will need to solve the Secret Puzzle Box in three steps. Each time you solve one part, you will receive a new letter that gives you a hint for the next stage.
Box 1
For the first part, your goal is to reveal the fruits that are both sweet and tart. To do this, you need to slide one panel on each side. On Side 1, slide the panel on the bottom row. Then, on Side 2, slide the panel on the top row. That should unlock the first tier of the box. Follow the images provided above to open the first box.
Box 2
Next, the puzzle wants you to show all of the journals. On Side 1, slide the panels in the second and third rows. On Side 2, slide the panel in the second row. This will reveal the next clue. Follow the images provided above to open the second box.
Box 3
For the final part, you need to show the Sakura tree in full bloom. There’s only one of these, so it should be easy to find. On Side 1, you don’t need to change anything. On Side 2, slide the panel in the third row. That should unlock the final tier of the box. Follow the images provided above to open the third box.
Hard Difficulty
In Hard difficulty, the idea is the same, you need to open the puzzle in three steps using clues from the letters you receive. But this time, there are more panels involved in each step, so pay close attention to what you’re revealing. Side 1 is still your starting side.
Box 1
To begin, you need to show the fruits that are both sweet and tart. On Side 1, slide the panels located at the top right, middle left, and bottom right. On Side 2, slide the ones at the top right, bottom left, and bottom right. This should unlock the first section of the puzzle. Follow the images provided above to open the first box.
Box 2
The next part is to reveal all of the journals. On Side 1, slide the top right, middle left, and bottom left panels. Then on Side 2, slide the middle right and bottom right ones. This will unlock the second tier and give you the final clue. Follow the images provided above to open the second box.
Box 3
To finish the puzzle, you need to display the Sakura tree in full bloom. On Side 1, just slide the middle right panel. On Side 2, slide the top right and bottom right panels. That will complete the puzzle on Hard difficulty. Follow the images provided above to open the third box.
Lost in the Fog Difficulty
Lost in the Fog is the toughest version of the Secret Puzzle Box puzzle. It works the same way as the other two difficulties, you get a clue with each step, and you need to unlock three parts of the box. But now, the puzzle uses both white and brown rows, which makes it more complex. The white rows are lighter pieces that can move, while the brown rows are darker wooden panels.
Box 1
To solve the first part, you need to show the fruits that are sweet and tart again. On Side 1, move a panel in the first white row to reveal an orange, and one in the third left brown row to show an apple. On Side 2, you will need to move a few panels: the first left brown row to reveal cherries, the second right brown row to show strawberries, the third right brown row for grapes, and finally, the fourth white row to uncover a pineapple. That unlocks the first tier. Follow the images provided above to open the first box.
Box 2
For the second step, the goal is to reveal all the journals. On Side 1, you will need to slide four panels: one in the first white row, another in the second white row, one in the second left brown row, and the last one in the fourth white row. Then on Side 2, just slide the panel in the third left brown row. This will open up the next stage of the puzzle. Follow the images provided above to open the second box.
Box 3
Finally, to complete the last part of the puzzle, you need to show the fully bloomed Sakura tree. On Side 1, move the panels in the first left brown row, the third white row, and the third right brown row. On Side 2, move the panel in the first left brown row.
