In Dying Light: The Beast, Kyle is sent to a former school now possessed by Baron in the quest School’s Out. Players will have to traverse several floors, sneak past zombies and Screamers, pick up research papers, and find out all about a scientist named Camilo. Here is a complete breakdown of the mission in order which includes entrances, important loot, combat hints, and more tips for safely completing the quest.
Starting the Mission
After completing the Toxin in Toxic Relationships, Kyle receives a call from Lydia to investigate a school that has become Baron’s lab, starting the quest, School’s Out. The school may feel long because of the different floors and areas for exploration.
There are two entrances: a back classroom window and Level 0 through vents, and the top classroom window, which has access to a Dark Zone and some loot. If you’re looking for resources, it’s recommended to use the top window, although there are sleeper zombies that may alert enemies if you set them off, and a screamer is also in the area.
Exploring the School
Upon entering, Level 1 reveals a busy library with Zombies lurking, but it is not required to engage with them. Here, Survivor Sense will be beneficial when locating Screamers and other threats during this exploration. Moving one level down to Level 0, there is a small office that has a safe that requires 5-40-90, which is written on a white board in binary numbers.
There are also several lockpickable doors and cupboards that have additional loot inside, including the cafeteria, which has more infected with whom the players can fight. The path will then move to Level -1, which is the basement, and has the main objective in the gym, the outpost.
This area is guarded by Baron’s soldiers. Stealth takedowns are possible, but shotguns or assault rifles make clearing the area faster. Four research papers can be collected in the gym, with the last one revealed after a cutscene introducing a scientist named Camilo.
Securing Camilo and Completing the Quest
To secure Camilo, the flooded basement must be cleared of infected, including a tanky military zombie, and a hallway unlocked to reach the exit.
After a short cutscene, Camilo escapes with Ray in a car, and the player returns to the gym to collect the final research document. A firefight between Baron’s soldiers and scavengers breaks out outside, and it is best to leave the scene while the two groups fight.
The quest concludes with the return of all research documents to Lydia. Ray is discovered dead after a car crash, and following Camilo’s trail leads to a nearby blue house. Clearing the house of zombies reveals Camilo safe, and Lydia takes him into safety, ending the quest.
