How to unlock Dash in Hollow Knight: Silksong

The Dash is the best skill of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s abilities, and one of the very first abilities you would want to unlock to ensure easy travel across the different areas. It is important in combat situations too: it allows you to dodge enemy attacks and reach places that were otherwise unreachable. To start the Dash ability, you have to find the Deep Docks Swift Step skill. This guide will take you through all the necessary steps to locate it and dash out in the game.

Dash in Hollow Knight: Silksong

After you unlock the Swift Step skill in Hollow Knight: Silksong, using the Dash is really straightforward. Just hold the direction you want to go and activate it, and your character will dash that way. It’s not just handy for getting around; this move opens up paths you couldn’t reach before, making exploration a lot smoother. On top of that, it’s a lifesaver in combat. You can use it to slip past enemy attacks and avoid taking unnecessary hits, which makes tough fights much more manageable.

How to unlock Dash

When you enter the Deep Docks, start by heading right until you come across the Map Merchant. Once you’ve got the map, your goal is to make your way up to the very top of the area. Keep going right past the Merchant, and you’ll see an elevator that leads to a rest bench. Just skip that for now and keep moving.

After passing the elevator, begin climbing up the platforms until you reach the top, then head right into the next section. Here, you’ll run into some jumping skeleton enemies. Push past them and keep going until you spot a small platform surrounded by lava. Don’t worry, the lava won’t hurt you, so walk across it to get to the next set of platforms.

Going further will reveal an orange ball stuck in the ceiling. It will explode and open a hidden passageway if you hit it and then rapidly back off. You’ll soon find the Swift Step Idol if you go through the new opening and turn left. When you interact with it, the Dash ability will become available to you.
