PEAK: Where to Find the Golden Bing Bong Tomb?

Exploring the Mesa biome in PEAK can lead you to one of the game’s rarest secrets, the Tomb of the Ancient Idol. Inside rests the golden Bing Bong statue, a powerful relic that grants total invincibility but comes with a heavy burden. This guide covers how to find the elusive Tomb, navigate its tunnels, and claim the Idol, along with the rewards it unlocks.

Finding the Ancient Idol Tomb

Beneath the Mesa biome in Peak lies the Tomb of the Ancient Idol, a rare find that sometimes spawns and holds the golden statue of Bing Bong but accessing it is no easy feat.

The Tomb isn’t guaranteed—there’s only about a 25% chance that a Mesa run will include it. That means you may need several attempts before you even see the entrance.

When it does spawn, the entry point looks like a narrow hole in the sand, usually found before reaching the massive cavern area. Going down is a long drop, so you’ll want to carry climbing tools like ropes or balloons to make the descent safer. At least you’ll be safe from the burning sun underground—though you’ll still need stamina to crawl, climb, and squeeze through.

It’s easiest to notice this small hole if you’re scanning the landscape from the nearby cliff above camp.

Making Your Way Inside

The first section is a crawl through tight, cramped tunnels—uncomfortable, but doable if you keep pushing. After that, you’ll find yourself in a sprawling cavern with scattered ledges and, far ahead, a faintly glowing doorway.

Bring along Pitons and Rope Spools to make your climb through the tunnels manageable. Follow the glow until it leads you to the Tomb itself, where the Ancient Idol rests on a pedestal.

The Idol is extremely heavy, so in co-op, let the strongest, least encumbered teammate carry it. If you’re exploring solo, you’ll need plenty of consumables to keep your stamina up.

Why Grab the Bing Bong Ancient Idol?

The Ancient Idol makes you completely invincible to all damage while you’re holding it—but the weight slows you down significantly.

If you haul it all the way to the Kiln (volcano) and toss it into the lava, you’ll unlock the 24 Karat Badge and receive a cosmetic bonus: the Bing Bong Beanie Hat.
