Vessel of the Nine is a mysterious quest in Destiny 2 that dives deeper into Lodi’s transformation and connection to dark matter. Set on Kepler, this mission has you following clues, clearing out enemies, and solving small puzzles to uncover the truth. This guide walks you through every step, including potential bugs, locked doors, and hidden objectives—so you won’t miss a thing on your path to completion.
How to Start Vessel of the Nine
To get started, look for Lodi’s journal, it’s sitting on a table near the main hub area on Kepler. Sometimes the quest might not track on its own due to a bug. If that happens, open your Quest menu and manually activate it so you can follow the steps.
First Encounter & Opening the Locked Door
Follow the waypoint until you reach a large area where Vex and Fallen are battling. Jump in and take out all the enemies while Lodi speaks in the background. Once he finishes, you’ll get a new objective to “search for a signature” tied to Lodi.
Head toward the door on the left-hand side of the zone you entered. It’ll be locked and powered by two small generators. Right next to the door, you’ll spot some Fallen bodies, interact with them to connect to a dark matter signal. Shoot the two generators to power down the door, then use the control panel nearby to open it.
Go through the corridor, take out any enemies in your path, and look for another group of bodies near some crates. Interact with them to keep progressing. The game might mention looking for “slime,” but you’ll mostly just find more dead Fallen—don’t worry, this still counts.
Disable Generators & Complete the Quest
Continue progressing until you reach another open zone filled with enemies and a sealed door. Clear out all the hostiles, then trace the yellow cables connected to the door. Follow them to two power nodes and destroy the generators attached to unlock the way ahead.
In the next zone, fight through more enemies, then drop to the lower floor. Circle around the big support structure in the middle to find more bodies, interact with them to move on. Now, look closely at the crane in the back of the room holding a large engine. There should be a faint glow on it, that’s your next target.
Sometimes the quest marker here won’t show the right spot. To get where you need to go, head to the back-left of the room where the wall is crumbling. Climb up the damaged panels and leap over to the crane. Activate the glowing symbol to finish the quest.
Rewards
Once you finish the quest, you’ll walk away with a Tier 1 Precipal shotgun and three Fated Ciphers. Nothing too flashy, but still a decent haul.
