In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, there’s a moment where Caradoc asks how you managed to survive the plague. This choice changes how Caradoc reacts, but in the end, your journey continues no matter what you pick. Here’s a simple breakdown of what happens in both cases so you can decide what’s best for your story.
Should You Tell Caradoc About Arthur’s Soul
At one point in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, Caradoc will ask how you managed to survive the plague. You’re given two choices:
- Admit that King Arthur is inside you
- Act like you don’t know what happened
Tell Him About King Arthur
If you tell Caradoc the truth, that a part of King Arthur is inside you, he will immediately react. He will draw his sword, knock you down, and stab you. He’s not trying to kill you, but rather destroy the piece of King Arthur inside you.
Afterward, Caradoc explains why he did it. According to him, King Arthur isn’t truly dead. He’s come back before, and every time he does, the strange and dangerous force known as the Wyrdness spreads even further. Caradoc believes that if Arthur isn’t stopped for good, the world will eventually be consumed by this madness.
Once it’s over, you will still be able to rest at a bonfire. And despite what just happened, King Arthur will appear again. Somehow, he survived. He doesn’t seem aware of the danger Caradoc warned you about. Instead, he simply tells you to keep searching for the truth.
Keep Arthur a Secret
If you decide not to tell Caradoc anything, he’ll still share his mission with you, he is out to destroy every fragment of King Arthur to stop him from returning and spreading the Wyrdness.
After that, he lets you go. You will be able to light a bonfire and rest. Later, King Arthur will show up and thank you for not exposing him. Like before, he won’t seem to fully understand what Caradoc is so afraid of, but he’ll encourage you to find answers on your own.
In both the cases, King Arthur survives and continues to live inside you. He still promises you great power, and your journey continues either way. The main difference is that if you tell the truth, Caradoc thinks he succeeded in part of his mission. If you lie, he remains in the dark. If you choose the “I’ll stay” dialogue when talking to Caradoc, you can explore the starting island a bit longer. But to move the story forward, you will eventually have to leave.
