Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has added a lot of new content with the latest update and the Brushes with Death DLC. Players can now enjoy horse racing and mounted archery, unlock powerful new skills and gear, and explore fun quests with great rewards. Whether you’re into combat, crafting, or just exploring, this update has something for everyone.
New Horse Racing & Mounted Archery System
One of the features is the addition of a new free horse riding contest that now includes both horse racing and mounted archery, both challenging once fully unlocked, but offering rewards, if you bet. To unlock these events, travel to the Trosky region and speak to Mikolai at the Nomad camp. This begins a side quest that introduces two new secret skills but also provides a couple of useful horse gear upgrades. If you make the right choices during this quest, particularly by supporting both NPCs and passing a speech or skill check, you can obtain both skills and avoid sacrificing skills.
Unlockable Horse Skills & Gear
The skills you unlock are significant: Equestrian Explorer enhances horse stamina, fast travel visibility, and event evasion, while another boosts your ranged damage while mounted. You’ll also receive special bridles, one for speed during races and another for combat. Completing the questline fully unlocks the racing and archery challenges, where competitions and betting make for a rewarding gameplay. Mounted archery, in particular, is tricky but satisfying once you get to know it.
The Best Horse & Gear in the Game
Head to Kutenberg to purchase Kincham, the best horse with 60 speed and 260 stamina, though it does have low courage. Enhance your riding setup further with premium saddles, horseshoes, and bridles from the Kutenberg stablemaster or the Watering Hole north of Sugdoll. These upgrades greatly improve horse performance in races and battles.
Sir Radzig’s Longsword Reforged
Another exciting addition in this update is the ability to reforge Sir Radzig’s longsword to Rank 4. If you’ve unlocked the Blacksmithing skill and gathered the right materials, the reforged sword have 161 base damage and 169 stab, making it the best weapon in the game.
New Gear, Rebalanced Merchants & Secrets
Patch 1.3 also updates merchant inventories, making unobtainable or rare items, like a noble hood and gold-embroidered tunic, accessible through shops or lootable chests. Merchants now offer variety of gears, but prices have increased, with some gear reaching up to 10,000 Groschen. Despite the cost, the improved item increases the overall RPG experience. The patch even reintroduces a secret assassination route for King Sigismund, now with updated animation that offers an alternative ending.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Patch 1.3 includes small but helpful updates, such as new tutorial prompts for returning or new players. These cover essential mechanics like bed ownership, reputation loss, and location details on the map. It’s a minimim improvement, but one that will help players better understand and enjoy the game systems.
Brushes with Death DLC & Shield Painting
The main part of the paid content is the new DLC questline, Brushes with Death, which revolves around a painter near Trosky Castle. This side story is both entertaining and rewarding, unlocking a unique new feature: custom shield painting. After completing early quests, you’ll be able to choose from various designs, colors, and symbols to customize your shield, including designs from Twitch drops. You can also revert to the original look or unlock more styles through additional quests within the DLC.
