Expedition 33 Attack Jar Consequences and Rewards

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’ll meet a strange NPC called Jar in Spring Meadows. This guide explains where to find Jar, how to help it by finding the light it needs, and what happens if you choose to fight or spare it, including the rewards.

Jar Location in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Jar is a quest NPC found in Spring Meadows, an area unlocked during Act 1 of the main story. You’ll come across them near the 81st Abandoned Expeditioner’s Camp, beside a petrified Expeditioner clutching a polearm. Jar speaks of needing a “light” from its Mistress, which can be obtained in the Indigo Tree region within Spring Meadows.

Finding the Light for Jar in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

To help Jar acquire the light it needs, you’ll first need to locate a key item called Resin and bring it back to the Nevron. Fortunately, the Resin is located nearby in Spring Meadows, not far from both the Nevron and the Abandoned Expeditioner’s campsite.

Locating the Resin in Spring Meadows

Start by following the path beyond the Abandoned Expeditioner rest point. You’ll soon arrive at a fork that appears to split into two paths—but both routes ultimately lead to the same destination. Take the left path, cross the bridge, and head down the slope. On your right, near a cluster of barrels and crates, you’ll spot a purple glowing item—this is the Resin you’re looking for.

Returning to Jar and Activating the Light

Bring the Resin back to Jar. After the dialogue concludes, aim and shoot your projectile at the scepter in Jar’s hand to activate its light. Continue speaking with Jar, and you’ll receive a Healing Tint Shard as a reward, which grants you an additional healing item for use in combat.

Jar Attack Consequences

Players will have the option to talk to Jar once more and either leave in peace or choose to attack—choosing to attack will initiate a battle with Jar.

Choice & Their Outcomes:

If You Leave the Jar Alone

  • The Jar survives
  • You’ll have the chance to earn a special reward later in the story

If You Attack the Jar

  • Initiates a boss battle with the Jar and the Jar disappears.

Rewards You Get Upon Defeating Jar

  • When defeated, the boss will drop Colors of Lumina x3 and a Chroma Catalyst x1

It’s generally advised not to attack the Jar, as doing so will forfeit the chance to receive a unique reward later on. Another Nevron NPC encountered later in the game will reward players for sparing these special Nevrons.
