During the Camp segment in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a character named Sastro will request your help in locating his missing Gestrals. To meet Sastro—you’ll need to progress to Act One of the main story and make your way to Esquie’s Nest. This guide for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 outlines all the Lost Gestral locations. Collecting them all will earn you the “Lost Gestrals” trophy.
What are Lost Gestrals in Clair Obscur?
There are a total of 9 Lost Gestrals scattered throughout the Continent map. To collect them, simply find and speak with each one to send them back to Sastro at the Camp. As you gather more of them, Sastro will begin to grant you new abilities. You can check your progress at any time by talking to him.
Because of how the Continent is designed, your exploration will be limited at first. As you advance through the game’s three acts and unlock new Esquie abilities, you’ll gain access to previously unreachable areas—allowing you to find more of the Lost Gestrals.
Remember: If you’re having trouble locating the Gestral chef-Sastro, go left from the entrance to the clearing where The Curator is, then take another left into a smaller clearing. However, keep in mind that he won’t show up until after you’ve met Esquie. In fact, he might not appear at all until you’ve found the first Lost Gestral located outside Esquie’s Nest.

All Lost Gestrals in Act 1
Early in the story, your movement across The Continent is limited to walking and running. As a result, you’re mostly confined to the areas directly beyond Spring Meadows and Flying Waters.
Gestral Location 1
The first Lost Gestral is easy to spot—it’s standing right outside Esquie’s Nest when you arrive there in Act One. Since you’ll naturally reach Esquie’s Nest through the main story after visiting the Gestral Village, you’re unlikely to miss it unless you intentionally walk past.
After speaking to this Gestral, it will head back to camp, and Sastro will then appear. You can find him by taking the path to the left of the Curator’s cave. When you reach the pond, turn left again—Sastro will be standing next to a glowing blue tree.
Rewards You’ll Get: Gestral haircut for Maelle
All Lost Gestrals in Act 2
Once you reach Act 2, you’ll unlock the ability to swim and break through the reefs in the water that were previously blocking access to certain areas.

The second Lost Gestral can be found just east of the Stone Wave Cliffs, along the path to the right of the entrance. To reach it, you’ll need to defeat the Bourgeon and the surrounding enemies. The Gestral will be just to your right after you take down the Bourgeon.
If the fight proves too difficult, you can always come back later. In Act Three, once you’ve unlocked Esquie’s flying ability, you’ll be able to bypass the enemy altogether—though you’ll likely be strong enough to handle the challenge before then.

The third Lost Gestral is located on a small island near the White Tree area, west of the Gestral Village. To reach it, you’ll need Esquie’s swimming ability, which you unlock at the end of Act One. From the village, head west toward Gestral Beach, swim across the water, then continue swimming northwest to reach the White Tree island. You’ll find the Gestral in the section with seaweed-like plants, standing in front of a group of vases.
Rewards You’ll Get: Gestral haircut for Sciel

The fourth Lost Gestral is located in the area beyond The Forgotten Battlefield, just before you reach Monoco’s Station in Act Two. From the station, head downhill and stick to the left side. Look for the Gestral near a group of green trees where the snowy terrain transitions to grass, standing beside some pots and broken crates.
If you missed it during the main story, you can return by swimming back through the coral, using Esquie’s flying ability in Act Three, or going through Monoco’s Station—though that’s the longest route.
Rewards You’ll Get: The power to destroy Paint Spikes (roots marked with blue spots)
Gestral Location 5

The fifth Lost Gestral can be found on a beach just east of where you discovered the previous one near Monoco Station. From the station entrance, head toward the eastern beach and swim through the coral to the north—if you haven’t unlocked this ability for Esquie yet, you’ll need to advance the story a bit more.
On the northern tip of the headland to your right, you’ll come across a small beach with some enemies and the Lost Gestral. If you happen to miss it, you can return later using Esquie’s coral-breaking ability from the Act Three region, approaching from the north.
Gestral Location 6

The sixth Lost Gestral can be found after you’ve passed through Old Lumiere and begun hunting the Axons. Just west of Old Lumiere’s exit, you’ll come across an island with red grass and trees, along with two mimes in the center. The Gestral is located behind the mimes at the back of the island.

All Lost Gestrals in Act 3
In Act 3, you’ll unlock the ability to fly with Esquie. This enables you to access floating sky islands, areas unreachable by water, and other locations that were previously inaccessible.
Gestral Location 7

The seventh Lost Gestral becomes accessible only after you reach Act Three and gain Esquie’s flying ability. Head to the far north of the map and look to the west of the Visages location, where you previously fought one of the Axons (it’s the area covered in masks, if you don’t remember). Here, you’ll find a small patch of land that was otherwise unreachable, where you can land with Esquie, just north of the large wooden tower with the hot air balloons. The Gestral is located in the southern part of this area, near some broken trees.
Rewards You’ll Get: 3x Lumina Color
Gestral Location 8

The eighth Lost Gestral is another one that can only be obtained once you’re in Act Three and Esquie has gained the ability to fly. This one is located in the far east of the map. From Sirene, the colosseum where you fought the second Axon, fly directly southeast over Gestral Beach, which sits on its own small island, until you find a small red jungle. You’ll know you’re in the right spot because this is where the Endless Night Sanctuary is located. Just below that area, you’ll see a group of enemies near a large bell, with the Lost Gestral located slightly to the north of them, nestled between some trees.
Rewards You’ll Get: 5x Lumina Color
Gestral Location 9

The final Lost Gestral is located on a small island high up next to the Endless Tower in the west of the map. To reach it, you’ll need Esquie’s flying ability, which you unlock in Act Three. Fly up near the skybox ceiling, and you’ll spot a small island with the Gestral resting on it. With this, you’ll have found all nine Lost Gestrals for Sastro.
Rewards You’ll Get: Pro Retreat Picto (allows for instant fleeing during battle)
