In Oblivion Remastered experience if you have just went to the sewers then one of your first big challenges is closing the Oblivion Gate in the “Breaking the Siege of Kvatch” quest. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly how to survive the fight, find the Sigil Stone, and shut the Oblivion gate down.
How to Close the Oblivion Gate in Breaking the Seige of Kvatch
You will find this Oblivion Gate just outside Kvatch right after you finish the tutorial and exit the sewers. To shut it down, you’ll need to head inside and grab the Sigil Stone the glowing orb that keeps the gate open. Collecting the stone not only closes the gate but also earns you one Fame point. Plus, you can use Sigil Stones to enchant any regular, non-quest item in your inventory.
Once you enter an Oblivion Gate, your main goal is to head upward towards the Sigillum Sanguis. That’s the top room in the tallest tower, and it’s where you’ll find the Sigil Stone that powers the gate. Even if you get turned around, just keep following ramps and upper paths, aiming for the biggest, most central tower you can spot.
Watch out for Fire and Shock Daedra as you climb. If you’ve got gear, potions, or spells that resist fire or lightning damage, now’s the time to use them. Fireballs will be flying at you left and right as you ascend. Frost damage is effective against most enemies in these tower.
If you’re trying to move fast through a gate, Alchemy, Sneak, and Illusion are your best options. They’re helpful for avoiding fights or speeding through encounters. If you ever get overwhelmed or chased by a pack of Daedra, just ignore them. Sprint to the Sigil Stone, grab it, and the gate shuts down instantly, teleporting you right back to wherever you were in Cyrodiil before stepping through.
