He Yuezhi is a mini boss that appears during the quest Twelve Years of Feud in Where Winds Meet. The fight against him happens in the Sorrowfield Village located in the Granary of Plenty in Kaifeng, and there are several enemies attacking at once making it a difficult fight. This guide shows how to deal with the enemies, manage the attack patterns from He Yuezhi, and what you can do to survive this boss fight easily.
What to Bring Into the Fight

Any type of weapon that can hit more than one enemy at a time is beneficial because you need to be striking multiple opponents at once. The objective here is not to duel, but to clear space. The Strategic sword is very suitable for this encounter, as its wide swings help with better crowd control, while the damage inflicted by the Bleed and Poison status effects will gradually kill any opponents when you back off.
Once those effects are active, you don’t need to overextend. If you have a healing umbrella, turn it on before engaging. You’ll want the safety net early, not after things go wrong.
Who to Fight First (and Why)
Do not open on He Yuezhi. He enters the fight with three allies:
- a brute
- an archer
- a swordsman
The brute presents the biggest threat to you, as his attacks can floor you and keep you off the ground, which is how most failed attempts start, so it’s important to eliminate the brute first.
Once you eliminate the brute, take out the archer since his ranged attacks will interrupt you constantly. Lastly, focus on the swordsman, as he is the least disruptive of the three; after eliminating the other two, he becomes a mere nuisance. Once these enemies are out of the way, the pace of the remaining fight will decrease significantly.
Dealing With He Yuezhi
Although He Yuezhi’s repeated blows lack speed and can be read with some effort, there is still one combination in particular that should be noted. The pattern is two gold strikes and then a red attack. Avoid the golden hits while parrying out the red one and you will be able to land a counter.
Some of his moves can knock you off balance or launch you upward. If an attack looks questionable, dodge instead of trying to block it. Getting hit once often leads to getting hit again. Patience matters more than aggression here.
Once He Yuezhi goes down, Twelve Years of Feuds continues toward its final confrontation. The questline eventually leads you to Shen Yiren, the Khitan leader, and closes out this chapter of the story in Where Winds Meet.
