In Dune: Awakening, Steel crafting represents one of the essential stages in the evolution of the game. You require Carbon Ore, Iron Ingots, and Water to manufacture Steel Ingots. This article will show you where to find the resources, how to gather them efficiently, and how to build Steel during the early stages using the Small Ore Refinery.
Crafting Steel in Dune: Awakening
Some materials, such as Copper and Granite, appear naturally in Dune: Awakening, while others, such as Steel and Steel Ingots, need to be created in a crafting process. The process of crafting Steel is as follows:
1. Iron Ore
Your main ingredient is Iron Ore for Iron Ingots. It can be found in Iron Stone piles in the Eastern or Western Vermillius Gap. They look like piles covered by white rocks.
Mining Method: Iron Ore must be mined from these piles using Cutteray Mk1.
Refining Process: Once you have gathered enough Iron Ore, it would be best to go back to your base to set up a Small Ore Refinery. Refine the Iron Ore to Iron Ingots in this Refinery if you haven’t done so already.
2. Water
Water is crucial to Steel crafting, and there are a number of ways to go about gathering it. However, in the early stages of the game, the most efficient way turns out to be through the Blood Purifier.
How to Collect Water: After killing enemies, collect their blood and treat it in the Blood Purifier. This generally gives you a significant amount of Water in quick succession.
Amount Needed: Keep at least 50 ml of Water aside for Steel crafting. You may drink the rest, but do ensure there is enough left.
3. Carbon Ore
Carbon Ore is found in piles of carbon stones, mainly in the Eastern Vermillius Gap area located just north of the Hagga Basin South. These piles are very obvious because the crystals jut out of the stone.
Mining Method: The best way to mine Carbon Ore would be by using Cutteray Mk2.
Alternative: There are times when Carbon Ore is just lying next to the stone piles, so mining is not always necessary. One can just pick them up and add them to their inventory.
Crafting Steel:
With all the ingredients collected (4 Carbon Ore, 1 Iron Ingot, & 50ml of Water), it’s time to make your Steel. While you can use any refinery for this process, the Small Ore Refinery is perfect for early stages in the game.
Water Handling: The Small Ore Refinery can use the Water directly from the Blood Purifier, so you won’t need a Literjon for storage.
Crafting Process: Approach the refinery, select Steel from the crafting options, and if you have all the materials, start refining your Steel Ingots!
