Thistle Needles are essential for crafting arrows in Grounded 2, making them a must-have if you’re planning to use a bow early on. While they’re not too hard to collect once you know where to look, spotting them can be tricky at first. This guide will show you where to find Thistles and how to craft arrows efficiently.
How to Get Thistle Needles and Craft Arrows
While exploring the world of Grounded 2, you’ll unlock access to a wide range of weapons to fight off the insect threats around you. One of the more accessible and reliable early-game choices is the bow. However, using a bow effectively means keeping your arrow supply full — and that depends on finding Thistle Needles, a resource that isn’t so easy to come by early in the game.
Where to Find Thistle Needles

Thistle Needles come from Thistle plants which are super tall stems with a bright purple flower blooming on top. They tower over most of the grass and other plants, so spotting them becomes easier once you know what you’re searching for. They grow in several places across the map, but climbing up to a high point gives you a better view to find them quickly.
When you reach a Thistle, you can start collecting needles right from the bottom of the stem. You don’t need to climb far to gather a decent number, usually 8 to 12 needles are easily within reach. These plants also regenerate their needles every few in-game days, making them a reliable resource throughout your playthrough.
For a quick early-game harvest, head south from the first Ranger Station and explore the Entrance area. You’ll likely spot a few Thistles without much effort.
How to Craft Arrows
After collecting Thistle Needles, you’ll need Mite Fuzz from Lawn Mites to craft arrows. Using 2 Mite Fuzz and 5 Thistle Needles gives you 10 arrows per batch, making it easy to stock up. Arrows can also be recovered after use, thanks to a small icon that marks where they land, so you’ll only need to replace the ones you lose.
