The Second Trial in Dune: Awakening is an important step in your journey through Vermillius Gap. It not only challenges your exploration skills but also rewards you with a useful new tool that helps with both movement and resource gathering. If you’re looking to progress further and make your time in the desert a bit easier, this trial is worth completing. Here’s where to find it and how to get through it.
Where To Find The Second Trial
You will find the Second Trial of Aql in Eastern Vermillius Gap, inside a cave called The Deep Struggle. Unlike most trial markers, this one shows up in purple instead of orange. The cave entrance is tucked away in the cliffs, so just follow the map marker to get there; it’s just north of the Southeast Ironworks. Be careful as you head in. The Bandits have set up some mines near the entrance, and they can really hurt if you’re not watching your step.
How To Complete The Second Trial
Once you’re inside the cave, you’ll come across some loot, a bit of ore, and a broken path that goes deeper underground. Just follow that path until you reach the altar. When you get there, walk up to it and inhale the Spice to begin the trial.
In the Second Trial of Aql, you’ll get a tool called the Static Compactor. It’s super handy, it lets you clear out environmental hazards and even create platforms to help you move forward. Just follow the path, use the tool to clear the way, and keep going until you finish the trial.
Once it’s done, you’ll wake up back at The Deep Struggle cave, and from there, you’re free to explore more of Vermillius Gap. Completing this trial also unlocks the Static Compactor Schematic. This lets you craft the tool yourself, which is great for gathering, especially when it comes to clumping up Flour, Sand and Spice to make collecting them a lot easier.
