Where to Find Minerals in The Alters Act 1

In The Alters, Minerals are one of the most valuable resources you’ll need early on, especially in Act 1. They’re important for building important base modules and crafting special gear later in the game. This guide will show you exactly where to find Minerals in Act 1, how to mine them safely, and why it’s good to keep a stockpile for later.

Where To Find Minerals In The Alters

You’ll come across the Minerals Deposit early in Act 1, not long after reaching the vantage point as part of the main story. Before you head out, there are a few things you should prepare. Try to make your way to the deposit first thing in the morning. Bring at least two Vertara Drills, you’ll need them to break through rock formations blocking your path. Make sure your suit is fully charged or at least has enough energy for a long trip.

You should also carry enough resources to place about four Pylons and have one Mining Outpost ready to deploy. You’ll be able to reach the area as long as you have some Drill Charges to break through the rock walls and a Climbing Hook to scale certain spots. Just make sure you’ve got both with you before heading out. Once you’re all set, head toward the marked location on your map above.

How to Mine the Minerals

Be careful along the way there are lots of anomalies, so it’s best to avoid them when you can.  If you come into contact with Anomalies, you’ll take radiation damage and if your radiation level maxes out, it can end your run. So take your time, move carefully, and try to walk between or around the Anomalies whenever you can to stay safe.

Eventually, you’ll reach an area that looks like scorched ground with glowing yellow cracks almost like it’s made of magma. That’s your spot to pull out your Polygonal Scanner to find the best spot for your Mining Outpost. After placing it, just connect it back to your base using the Pylons, and you’re good to go.

How to Use the Minerals

Minerals are important because you’ll need them to build key base modules like the infirmary. Later on, they’re also used to craft special gear. It’s a good idea to keep a steady supply, since some story events can cut off access to the mineral deposits later in the game.
