To Taste A Foreign Body Quest Guide – Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 opens with “To Taste a Foreign Body,” a tense first mission that drops you into a crumbling apartment crawling with danger. You’ll have to think fast, sneak smart, and use your powers to carve a path out. This early quest quietly teaches how Bloodlines 2 blends stealth, exploration, and brutal combat within its confined, atmospheric spaces.

Breaking Out of the Apartment

The game opens with a cutscene where you automatically take down a police officer. Once you’re free to move, head through the corridor ahead. Another cop steps out of the next door — the game tells you when to attack, so deal with him and keep going.

You’ll reach a room with stairs, but the path upward is blocked. Look around instead — there’s a pile of boxes you can climb. Use them to reach the corner gap and jump through to get upstairs. A little further down the hallway, the story introduces Fabien in a short cutscene.

You’ll exchange a few words with Fabien before the mission continues. The choices don’t really alter the story here, but if you want to stay on good terms, pick “Seems we are both in the dark.” Once the scene ends, the quest To Taste a Foreign Body officially begins.

Getting Out of the Building

Your next stop is the lobby. The front door looks like the way out, but a quick interaction shows that it’s blocked — the police have the place surrounded. Turn right and activate your vampire sight to look around. You’ll notice a faint blue glow coming from a pipe inside the elevator shaft. Use telekinesis to pull it down. The elevator crashes, creating a new opening nearby.

Drop into the shaft, land on the elevator, and climb the ladder to reach a higher floor. Keep going through the corridors until you find an open section with a narrow wooden plank acting as a bridge. Cross carefully and check the rooms beyond.

There’s a bloody package near some graffiti that you can inspect, and just ahead, a police officer patrolling near a lamp. You’ll need to slip past him quietly. Turn on your vampire sight again and look for any white-glowing objects nearby. Use telekinesis to grab one and toss it toward the left wall — that sound will distract the cop. When he turns away, move through the right-hand path.

In the next room, look up for a white cloth hanging from a hole above. Interact with it to climb through. In the new space, you’ll find a painting and a radio — they’re small lore bits that talk about what’s happening in Seattle if you take the time to listen.

Head right, climb through another hole, and you’ll reach a bright moonlit room with a wide gap. Jump and glide across to the other side, then go through the right-hand door. After a short drop, you’ll land in a hallway patrolled by two officers. Wait for them to walk away, crawl through the low gap in the wall, and drop down again to keep moving.

When the Fighting Starts

A red glow up ahead marks your next direction. Go toward it and take the ladder up — this is where the first real combat begins. You’ll hear a ghoul talking nearby; sneak behind it and perform a stealth kill to take it out quietly.

Go forward and use a double jump to reach the ledge in front. There’s a door to your left that leads into a room with more ghouls. You can jump down and get a drop attack on the first one, but the rest will notice you pretty quickly.

After the fight, use your vampire sight again. You’ll see blue planks above you. Pull them away with telekinesis and climb up. On the next level, you’ll find your first potion sitting beside a piano. Take it before continuing through the wooden double doors ahead.

This next section is crawling with ghouls, and you can easily get overwhelmed if you rush in. Here’s a slower, safer approach:

  1. Wait until the ghoul on the right turns around, then take him out silently.
  1. Hide immediately — another ghoul will come to check the body.
  1. While he’s distracted, go for the one on the left.
  1. Take care of the last ghoul however you prefer — stealth or full combat.
  1. If you cause a commotion, a fourth ghoul from the next room might show up.

If your health’s running low, feed on one of the fallen ghouls to recover before moving on.

Reaching the Rooftop

Once the area is clear, look for a hole in the ceiling and climb through it. Crawl under a low section of the wall and make your way up the stairs. You’ll reach the roof, which signals the end of this mission.

You’ll get one last conversation with Fabien here. Choose the dialogue line “Unusual, to wake to a kind word.” if you want to leave a good impression.
