Thief’s Key Location in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
You can find the Thief’s Key at Dreamer’s Tower, where the Old Man will give it to you at the top. Dreamer’s Tower is on a small island in the centre of the larger island where you start the game, near Aliahan and Reeve. There are several ways to reach Dreamer’s Tower later on, but at the start, you will be heading there from Reeve, which is located in the northwest corner of the island. When you get to Reeve, head to the northernmost building in town, right next to the pond. Inside, the boy sitting at the table will tell you to reach Dreamer’s Tower by taking a hidden passage through the woods to the south.
Dreamer’s Tower
When you leave Reeve and head south, you’ll find a direct path to the tunnel in the woods, marked by a gap between the trees. Going through this tunnel leads you to the Shrine of the Plains. From there, make your way to the tunnel. Going through the tunnel will take you to the first basement level of Dreamer’s Tower. From there, follow the long hallway south until you reach a staircase that leads up. Climb the stairs, and you’ll find yourself on the main floor of Dreamer’s Tower.
This floor has more rooms and paths than the first basement level. Take the staircase up to B2, and from there, the stairs in the southwest corner will take you down to B3. On B3, a winding staircase near the center will lead you to the Old Man. Now talk to the Old Man in his home on B4 of Dreamer’s Tower, and he’ll give you the Thief’s Key.
Ultimate Key Location in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
With the Ultimate Key, you’ll be able to unlock every door in the game. In Lanson, there are a few hints about how to get the Ultimate Key, but they’re not always obvious that they’re pointing you in that direction. A man in the shop mentions that to get the Ultimate Key, you’ll need a special Bottomless Pot. Meanwhile, a Slime tells you about Edina and warns that you can’t enter the castle without a Fading Jenny. Fortunately, there’s a vendor just a short walk away in Lanson who sells Fading Jenny, and you’ll only need one for what you have to do. Once you’ve got it, head toward Edina, which is on an island in the northwest corner of the map.
After sailing to Edina, use the Fading Jenny. It will make you and your party invisible, allowing you to sneak past the guard who wouldn’t let you in before. Once you’re inside, you don’t need to stay invisible anymore. Once you’re inside, head down the staircase on the left. This will bring you to a room with a rock puzzle, which is pretty simple to solve. You just need to move all three rocks onto the pressure plates at the end of the area.
How to Solve the Puzzle
Start by moving the middle rock one step to the right. Then, move the left rock up, to the right, and position it in front of the opening, before placing it onto a pressure plate. Next, move the right rock down one step. Now, move the middle rock to the left, putting it where the left rock originally was. Repeat the same steps you did for the left rock with the middle rock. Finally, move the right rock up one step and repeat the process for it, just like you did with the middle rock.
After solving the puzzle, the large door at the far end of the room will open, allowing you to enter and open the chest to find the Bottomless Pot. Inside the Pot, you’ll find a note that points you to your next destination – the Shrine of the Shallows.
The Shrine of the Shallows
To reach the Shrine of the Shallows, sail east from Edina, crossing over the western continent, and head toward the large gap in the north between the two continents. You’ll find a big outcrop of rocks jutting out from the sea. Use your Bottomless Pot when prompted, and the sea will drain just enough to reveal the entrance to the Shrine. Once you’re inside the Shrine of the Shallows, enter the first room, and you’ll find the Ultimate Key in the first chest.
