How to Start The Routine Reconnaissance of Rarefied Resources Quest
To start the Routine Reconnaissance of Rarefied Resources side quest, head to the eastern part of Fairfield. You’ll come across a forest there, and right in the middle, you’ll find Director of Resource Exploitation, Betsy Szmuch, standing beside a small desk. Talk to her, and she’ll excitedly tell you about some rare plants she’s studying. She’ll then ask if you’re interested in helping out.
You can pick any response as long as it’s not the one that ends the conversation. After a bit of chatting, she’ll ask you to check out the reports about the Heartless Laphoria. Once the conversation ends, the side quest officially begins.
Heartless Laphoria Location in Outer Worlds 2
You can usually find the Heartless Laphoria in areas close to Zyranium. Two easy spots to check are near the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Centre and just east of the Bridge of the Reverent. It’s hard to miss this plant has black and silver colours and gives off a green, toxic-looking gas. Once you collect the Heartless Laphoria, you’ll instantly earn +202 XP for completing that part of the quest. Head back to Director Betsy Szmuch and let her know what you found. After you report in, she’ll give you your next job, confirming the existence of the mineral Ferrochromium.
Ferrochromium Location in Outer Worlds 2
To track down Ferrochromium for the quest, check these three spots: just north of the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Centre, west of Westport, and the far southwest corner of Paradise Island. Gather all the Ferrochromium you find, and you’ll earn +202 XP for completing this objective.
Once you’ve verified all the samples, return to Director Betsy Szmuch and report back. After your chat, the Routine Reconnaissance of Rarefied Resources quest will wrap up, and you’ll receive two rewards: the Recipe: Sentry Blade Covert Grip and the Recipe: Defensive Plates.
