The Rat Catcher is a story-focused quest in Stalker 2: Stories Untold, where you need to make choices and carry out conversations. You will help an old Scout Master fight off mutants, talk to him, and learn more about his past. The quest is easy to follow but has important dialogue options and hidden details. This guide explains each step so you know exactly what to do.
The Rat Catcher Quest
Head towards the location marked on the map above. You need to find a Scout Master in the area. He will be fighting with the mutants. You need to help the scout master fight off the mutants. Then you need to talk with the scout master.
He will ask you how you got to know about this place and what is the reason for your arrival. You need to tell him that he is a good fighter despite being old. Then tell him that Banzai has sold his stash.
Then you need to ask him why he left the camp when the skull had come to kill you. He will tell you that he wanted to clear his head, so he left. Then follow the scout master to his stash. The scoutmaster will ask if you still have the amplifier. You have two options here. Either choose ‘Maybe’ or ‘None of your business’.
If you choose ‘maybe,’ he will be pleased to know that you still trust him. Then he will give you the key to his stash so that you can investigate. When you open the stash, you will find the scout master’s suit and the scout master’s old PDA inside. Now listen to the conversation between the scoutmaster and the surgeon. He will tell you about his past life.
Return to Fairytale
After the conversation, ask the scoutmaster some questions. He will tell you that on his part, he had worked with the skull as a mercenary. During the events of Call of Prypiat. Ask him why he didn’t tell you before that he knew the skull. He will tell you that he wanted to live, that’s why he didn’t mention it before. Then, after talking with him, you need to return to Fairytale.
When you return to Fairytale, Emission will start. Return to the shelter and talk with Medulin. Make him drunk and talk with him to know more about him. Talk to him until the Emission stops. Then leave the shelter and find Rascal’s Stash.
You need to find the warehouse in Fairytale and climb the roof of the warehouse with the help of a ladder. The roof will be filled with electric anomalies. At the edge of the roof, you will find Rascal’s stash. From the roof jump down towards the second floor. Enter the second floor, and you will find the Rascal’s stash in one of the rooms. The code of the stash is 2909.
Rascal’s stash
Open the stash. Inside, you will find the door key, Rascal’s note, medical kits, and different types of weapons. Then you need to talk with Rascal and show him his notes. He will tell you that he was with Skull because he wanted some items to be delivered to him. After talking to Rascal, you need to ask Bansai some questions.
Bansai will be locked inside a building. You need to climb up the roof of the building, open a small hatch and pass through the AC vents to reach Bansai. When you find Bansai, you will hear a loud sound coming from the equipment. Switch it off and talk with him. After talking to Bansai, you will get to know that he disclosed your location to the skull. After talking to him, mercenaries will come and attack you.
After killing the mercenaries, return to the camp and talk with all the people. The scoutmaster will tell you that the skull will send another group of mercenaries to kill you. You need to decide which part of the camp you need to defend. Choose the north-west part of the camp as it is the weakest part of the camp. Once you decide this, you will complete the rat catcher quest.
