Ideally, you want to approach from the southeast, which gives you a chance to view the surrounding area before dealing with any potential obstacles or enemies.
There are a couple methods of getting up there – you can take the middle way up or use the ladder to the side. It’s up to you if you want to try and fight those enemies, but there are a lot of enemies, and they only keep coming, so this may cost valuable time, not to mention that can be troublesome. Either way, it just comes down to your playstyle. If you take time to plan your way up, you are more likely to get to the crawler without distraction.
Collecting the Item and Completing the Mechanism
Once you go up the selected path, turn around and you will find the battery. Your next move is to go back up and throw the item on the second ledge. The normal way to do it is to just lift it and put it in place in a careful manner. But it can also be thrown well enough to land where you want it.
Once you’ve thrown the battery, climb up the ladder to the second ledge and grab it, then use the other ladder to reach the mechanism on top.
