In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, the “Spread Your Wings” quest puts you in a defining choice—stand with Vidar or join the enigmatic Children of Morrigan. Your decision determines the course of the journey, changing quests, allies, and rewards. Here’s what to expect and which path could best meet your playstyle.
Mission Start: Rescue Vidar
Your first goal is to locate and free Vidar, but don’t expect the game to hold your hand here—the bandit camp he’s being held in isn’t marked on your map. Head north from the Ruined Broch fast travel point, and keep an eye out near a fork in the road. That’s where you’ll find the camp.
What to do:
- Clear out the bandits.
- Look for a cage—Vidar’s inside.
- Take the key from a crate beside the tent.
- Open the cage and speak with Vidar.
You will be requested to meet up with him in Roscree, which opens a new quest titled “Spread Your Wings.”
Welcome to Roscree
Upon arriving in Roscree, Vidar is already there in the village center. Approach him to initiate a conversation. Things soon take a turn when a group known as the Children of Morrigan intrudes.
Turns out, Vidar and this group aren’t exactly on the best of terms. Their leader, Self, wants to capture Vidar peacefully—but he’s not leaving without a battle.
In the course of the conversation, Self will also drop some dirty secrets about what Vidar might have been up to. You’ll have to decide where you stand then:
Major Choice Time
You’ll be presented with two dialogue options:
- “I don’t believe the stories you’re telling. I’m with Vidar.”
→ This choice leads to a fight against the Children of Morrigan. Vidar fights by your side.
→ After the battle, a new quest chain begins—one that focuses on taking down Morrigan’s members and followers.
→ Eventually leads to Cuachant with exclusive rewards. - “If he’s not going to be killed… Fine. I want to learn more.”
→ You let them take Vidar peacefully.
→ You earn the group’s trust and join them as a Hatchling, starting a new storyline.
→ This path also leads to Cuachant, but the quests and rewards are completely different.
Two Paths, One Destination
Regardless of what you choose, the journey will eventually bring you to Cuachant. But the path, quests, and loot will differ based on your choice.
So are you supporting Vidar regardless of what—or are you wondering what the Children of Morrigan are actually doing?
