The toxic zones of Brookhollow Park require stinkbugs in Grounded 2 for survival. These monsters lurk near rot pockets and drop the materials for gas-resistant armor and smoothies. This guide explains where these bugs are, how they can be slain safely, and what prizes one can gain while allowing players to brave these dangerous areas and not fall victim to poisonous fumes.
How to Handle Stinkbugs and Toxic Zones
Brookhollow Park in Grounded 2 has lots of rotting food and foul-smelling garbage that often release toxic fumes that can deplete health in no time. Entering these areas, especially when doing missions like Signals and Stashes, will necessitate the use of gas-resistant gear crafted using materials dropped by stinkbugs.
Stinkbugs drop two key crafting materials: Stinkbug Parts used for the crafting of gas-resistant armor such as gas masks, and Gas Sacks, which are used to make smoothies like Gastro Goo that grant protection from poison gas. Gather these items if you intend to survive the poisonous zones and explore safely.
Stinkbug Spawn Locations
Stinkbugs tend to stay near rowdy food sources. A few solid early spawn points stay near:
- Garbage Can (Entrance Zone): One stinkbug can be found southeast of the trash bin; another is by a tree southward.
- Picnic Table Area (Near the Rope Fence): One stinkbug can be spotted in a grassy patch just beside some pink flowers, while another two lurk there on the brick path to the southeast.
- Brick Pile (East of Snackbar): Stinkbugs often hang out on these bricks, with more found to the northeast in the tall grass.
Combat Strategy
Stinkbugs are hardy and have a broad-area gas attack, so close combat is risky. Successful tactics are:
- Using Ranged Weapons: Equipment such as staffs and bows permit safe combat at a distance, without being exposed to toxic clouds.
- Attacking Solo Opponents: Luckily for us, stinkbugs do not travel in packs, so combat will usually involve a single opponent only.
- Carrying Healing Items: Smoothies like Green Machine will restore health if combat happens inside the range of gas.
Crafting Benefits
Killing a Stinkbug gives players Stinkbug parts, which are used to create a standard gas mask, and Stinkbug Gas Sacks, which are required to make Gastro Goo smoothies.
Note: Both of these items give the Gas Guard status effect, which negates damage from toxic environments. This greatly enhances survivability in toxic areas and renders future stinkbug encounters much more manageable.
