Solve the Painting Workshop Mystery in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

If you’re in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and you will encounter the Painting Workshop. This mystery entails searching for secret areas, encountering the Faceless Boy, and defeating a strong secret boss. This guide will take you through how to initiate the Painting Workshop mystery, where to locate each secret area, and what you need to do to unlock the Noir Et Black trophy.

How to Start the Painting Workshop Mystery

The Painting Workshop is a unique location in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. There are three of them where you can enter. In each, you will encounter the Faceless Boy, and he will hand you a fragment of the Beast. To earn the achievement, you will have to defeat the boss at the end of the Painting Workshop. It is quite a difficult battle, so it is a good idea to be about level 85 to try attempting to defeat it.

How to Solve the Painting Workshop Mystery

In order to unlock the Noir Et Black trophy, you will need to discover three special workshops where you will encounter the Faceless Boy. Every time you encounter him, he will reward you with one of three items: the Light, the Heart, or the Shape of the Beast. Once you’ve obtained all three, continue further in the level until you discover some statues. Talk to them and apply the Light of the Beast three times. That will call a secret boss known as the Lampmaster.

Painting Workshops Locations

The first Painting Workshop is on a small island northeast of Stone Wave Cliffs. Watch out for it since it’s easy to miss. The second one is northwest of Forgotten Battlefield, so go in that direction. The third workshop can be found on a floating island east of Sirene and Sirene’s Dress. You’ll have to use Esquie’s flying power to get up there, so be sure to have it unlocked before attempting.

After you beat the Lampmaster and finish the little mystery, talk to the Faceless Boy near the exit. He’ll give you a Perfect Chroma Catalyst. You can use it to upgrade one of your weapons all the way to level 33.
