In Expedition 33, Esoteric Ruins is in the northwestern part of Act II’s main island, and this place is along the left path to Old Lumiere. There, you will be facing a challenge: a maze puzzle. In this guide, we will give you a step-by-step solution to the Esoteric Ruins Maze Puzzle.
How to Solve the Esoteric Ruins Maze Puzzle
To start the side quest, you will have to proceed into the Esoteric Ruins region. There, you need to locate and talk to the Blue Orb or the Nevron Spirit. This orb is the starting point to unlock the rest of the puzzle and initiates the quest.
To start the puzzle, interact with the Blue Orb. When you interact with it, a yellow light will start glowing nearby. This light is your way forward. Now follow the light, it takes you up the hill. The path is not straightforward, but the light guides you in the right direction. As you climb to the top of the ground, continue following the shining light. It will take you to another shining orb on top. This is where the maze puzzle starts. Now you need to solve the puzzle.
Once you arrive at the beginning of the Maze in the Esoteric Ruins, you need to shoot the glowing orbs in every room to open the way ahead. The Maze consists of several rooms, and advancing through them relies on the activation of these orbs. Shooting the orb in a room will unlock the passage to the next room.
Maze Puzzle Solution
From the entrance, head left and shoot the first post. Then, turn around and shoot the glowing post visible from the entrance. Next, shoot the post at your current location before moving forward. Continue ahead, then turn right and keep going straight until you reach the final post. As before, turn around and shoot the post behind you to complete the sequence.
However, not all rooms require orb activation to enter. Some can be accessed directly, but it’s important to activate orbs in earlier rooms because the following doors might not open if a previous orb hasn’t been triggered. Even if a room seems accessible, skipping an orb could block your progress later on.
How to Exit the Maze
Once you solve the puzzle, the maze will lock itself. After grabbing the Wood Boards, you can exit using the grapple point on the west side of the area. To collect Wood Boards, head straight from the end gate and take a left, this path will lead you to the boards.
Alternatively, you can use the light pink glowing orb as a marker to locate them. On this route, you will find an item, the Colour of Lumina. If you eat it, you will receive an additional Lumina Point as a reward. After you have collected the boards, go back to the Blue Orb to finish the quest.
