Solve Alchemist’s Riddle (Fetch Ingredients for Bushek Task) in KCD2: Legacy of the Forge

After Henry becomes a member of the Blacksmiths’ Guild in the Legacy of the Forge DLC, he also has access to daily guild missions. Among them are investigation missions, which are marked with orange markers, the majority of which he gets from Master Klaus Eichner. Over the course of a few days, he and Master Bushek will dispatch Henry on missions with the common title “In the Service of the Guild.”

These missions typically involve the recovery of stolen guild property from bandits or Cumans. Henry may tackle each scenario with brute force, stealthy infiltration, or even by poisoning food and beverages in the camp. Keys for locked chests are typically found on bandits, although lockpicks are also dependable.

Quest 1: Return Stolen Documents West of Kuttenberg

The initial mission places Henry at a small outlaw hideout south of the primary road, west of Kuttenberg. The hideout has roughly seven foes, which is easily handled with strategy. Sneakiness is highly advisable, and it is easiest to tackle at night.

In the southern area of the camp, a chest next to an improvised bed holds two important items: Lost Guild Contract and Lost Guild Document. After returning those to Master Eichner, Henry can wait for a couple of days for the next task. Players can also find an Armorer’s Sketch, which opens the Armorer’s Shelter forge upgrade if there are hired staff available.

Quest 2: Retrieve Guild Dice from Opatowitz

The second task is much more difficult. The village of Opatowitz is infested with bandits and direct fighting is pretty much out of the question. The most effective method is to approach under cover of darkness from the north, make a crossing of the stream, and enter through a stone archway in the wall.

Beyond the arch, glance northeast where there is a burning campfire. A wooden hut is close by, and in it in the chest are the two guild dice stolen.

Quest 3: Get Four Items Close to Maleshov

The third inquiry sends Henry south of Kuttenberg, close to Maleshov, where there are approximately eight Cumans that watch a camp. There is a round tent on the east side of the camp, and there is a chest that contains four crucial items:

  • Blacksmith’s Apprentice Certificate
  • Sketch – Lingua Belli Longsword
  • Sketch – Basilard
  • Sketch – Shell Hunting Sword

Be cautious not to read the sketches, as doing so removes them and makes the quest incomplete.

Quest 4: The Alchemist’s Riddle

The final investigation, given by Master Bushek, begins at the inn west of Kuttenberg. Speaking with the maids reveals the alchemist was staying in the third upstairs room, which has only an easy lock. Inside, Henry finds a Strange Riddle and the book Planets and Their Metals.

The riddle reads:

“Supposing I were Peter, I’d look upon the holy towers, as many as the Master of the Art has planets. Then I’d plummet to the west, there terminate my flight, to the place of petitioners, where my Savior keeps His treasure.”

The solution is based on the book’s reference: Peter is the rock of the church, and seven planets exist. From the big rock east of the inn, Henry can see seven church spires. Looking west-northwest from there, one sees a shrine. Behind the shrine are the pilfered alchemy ingredients as well as other loot.

Returning the goods to Master Bushek ends the series of guild investigations.
