Red Soldier Ant Eggs are key to unlocking mounts and buggies early in Grounded 2, but finding them isn’t easy. This guide walks you through where to locate these rare eggs deep inside the dangerous Hatchery Anthill, how to navigate the tunnels, survive aggressive ants and nearby threats, and safely bring your egg back before it hatches.
Where to Find Red Soldier Ant Eggs
To unlock a mount or buggy early in Grounded 2, you’ll need to track down a Red Soldier Ant Egg. You might have seen ant eggs before, but those typically come from Red Worker Ants and are too small to be useful. The real challenge lies in finding the larger, rarer eggs in more dangerous zones.
Red Soldier Ant Eggs can be found deep within the Hatchery Anthill, which has two main entry points, one near the Snackbar Front and another in the south. If you enter from the southern side, follow the wires through the tunnels until you reach a terminal. Continue along the cable path, passing a ladder and sticking to the tunnel on the right.
Eventually, you’ll reach a damaged lab area. Move through it to find a cart filled with Red Soldier Ant Eggs. After collecting one, retrace your route to exit the anthill.
Surviving the Hatchery Anthill

The Hatchery Anthill poses a serious threat, with aggressive Red Soldier Ants guarding the area and an O.R.C. Orb Weaver Spider often close by. However, it’s sometimes possible to slip into nearby lab spaces to avoid direct confrontation.
Grabbing an egg makes things even more dangerous, they’re bulky and need both hands, similar to carrying construction materials. Doing so provokes every ant around, so make sure you’re equipped with solid armor, a torch, and a one-handed weapon. Be ready to drop the egg if combat becomes unavoidable.
