Go on a treasure hunt in the Bohemian wilderness with the “Axe from the Lake” side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. This guide will take you step-by-step through deciphering Zdenyek the Mouth’s cryptic tale to repairing the broken weapon and claiming your reward. Prepare for a bit of grave-robbing and blacksmithing as you uncover the secrets of the drowned brother and his watery curse.
How to start The Lake Quest

Looking for the legendary silver axe in Kingdom Come: Deliverance? The “Axe from the Lake” side quest will send you searching the hills around Rockwater Pond. If you chat with Zdenyek the Mouth in Tachov and get him to open up, he’ll spin a tale about two brothers. One brother got the silver axe from a water goblin (at a cost!), while the other unfortunately drowned. Turns out, the drowned brother was buried on a nearby hill with the axe. So, if you’re feeling a bit unscrupulous, you can dig up his grave and claim the fabled weapon for yourself.
Silver Axe Location

Hunting for the “Axe from the Lake” in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? The game marks a big search area around Rockwater Pond, west of Trosky. The axe itself is buried in a grave on a hilltop north of the pond’s pier, within that highlighted zone.
To make things easier, start at the Rockwater Pond pier. From there, it’s a short hike uphill, following landmarks that Zdenyek mentions in his story. These clues will guide you directly to the grave and the silver axe. Here’s a breakdown of how to get to the pier and find the axe.
How to Find the Grave

First, head west along the path north of Rockwater Pond. You can easily get to this path from Zhelejov or the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. Keep an eye out on your left for a smaller path leading down to the pond and the pier – it’s also marked on your map, so setting a waypoint helps.
Once you’re at the pier, turn back and go up that smaller path again. This time, keep going straight past where you turned off before, and you’ll find a path going between two big rocks.
Take that path uphill. You’ll pass an old oak tree on your right, then a large rock on your left. Keep going a little further until you reach the top of the hill. On your left, a bit down the other side, you should see a patch of freshly dug dirt near a tree overlooking the valley.
That’s the spot! Dig it up, and you’ll find a gemstone silver ring (good for selling!) and the broken silver axe.
How to Fix the Axe
Alright, you’ve got the broken axe. Now it’s time to fix it! Hopefully, you’ve already met Radovan the blacksmith in Tachov. Fast travel there and use his smithing tools. You’ll need the broken axe and one “fastening material” (Radovan sells them for next to nothing).
Forge the axe head like you normally would: heat it until it’s glowing yellow, then hammer it on both sides until it’s shaped properly. Once you’re done, you’ll have the “adorned axe” in your inventory. Now, go tell Zdenyek the good news to finish the quest. After that, you can sharpen the axe to a deadly edge at any grindstone.
