Side with Alva or Svoboda in The Outer Worlds 2

In The Outer Worlds 2, you will face a choice during the quest “Beginning at the Endpoint”: whether to side with Alva or Proctor Svoboda. This decision affects the story, your companions, and what rewards you get. Alva claims Svoboda is behind the Zyranium bomb, while Svoboda insists Alva is the culprit. Choosing the right side isn’t easy, but this guide will explain what happens if you support either character and which choice gives the best outcome for your journey.

Should you Side with Alva or Svoboda?

The best decision here is to side with Alva (Marisol Delgado). She’s innocent, and by supporting her, you will gain her as a new companion, helping you reach the full set of six companions in The Outer Worlds 2. It’s also the morally right choice, since Proctor Svoboda is the true culprit, siding with Alva ensures that justice is served and you don’t miss out on valuable story and companion content.

Siding With Alva

If you choose to side with Alva, things will play out in your favor. She will end up killing Proctor Svoboda, and you will gain Alva as a new companion on your journey. Later, she will reveal her true identity, Marisol Delgado, and help you uncover the Toxic Effluvium Repository, which you can access through Svoboda’s private terminal. Inside, you will find clear proof that Svoboda was guilty all along. A later conversation with Alva will also confirm her innocence beyond any doubt.

When you first enter Zyranium Manufactory VII, Svoboda will contact you and ask you to stop Alva, who has locked herself in the control room after accusing Svoboda of launching the Zyranium bomb. Svoboda will even tell you to kill Alva if necessary.

When you speak to Alva, she will insist that Svoboda is the one responsible for the bomb’s launch, leaving you with a tough choice. This starts the quest “Beginning at the Endpoint.” To gather clues, search the dead bodies, the Records Repository, Central Processing, and Refinement Logistics for any useful evidence. The problem is, even with all this digging, it’s still hard to know who’s really telling the truth.

If you want to side with Alva, pick dialogue options like “I say we force the Proctor to reveal who she’s working with” or “So do I. And I haven’t seen enough proof […]”. This will lead to Alva confronting and killing Svoboda, proving her point.

Siding With Proctor Svoboda

If you decide to side with Svoboda, she will take you to the Toxic Effluvium Repository and show you a room she claims belongs to the “culprit.” However, later in the story, you will discover that Svoboda herself was actually behind the Zyranium bomb launch. Unlike Alva’s route, you don’t gain any companion or special benefits from siding with her.

If you still choose to stand with Svoboda, select “Enough lies! I’m not buying any of this, ‘Marisol.’” This will start a boss fight against Alva (Marisol), where you will have to kill her. Unfortunately, there are no real rewards for taking Svoboda’s side, just a tougher fight and a guilty conscience.
