Should You Spare or Attack Lady Oichi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows: The Wheel Unmasked

In “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” the mission “The Wheel Unmasked” offers a critical moral decision on the fate of Lady Oichi. The choice to spare or assault her intertwines the personal stories of Naoe and Yasuke. This decision, however, turns out to be one that ends the same way and instead revolves around the development of the character and emotional payoff of the interaction. No matter if Lady Oichi encounters the blade of Naoe or the mercy of Yasuke, the quest has themes of redemption, remorse, and the grayness of duty versus emotion.

You can track this quest using the Objectives Board. Navigate to the Shinbakufu section and select the quest under The Mourner. Use the viewpoint fast travel in Nagahama, then follow the road north along the coast until you reach Shiotsu. Just before arriving, you’ll come across Shiotsu Shrine, located right off the road. As you approach, you’ll notice one of your kunai lodged in the rock fence.

At this point, Yasuke joins you, giving you the choice of which character to play. Pick whichever suits your playstyle, it won’t change the outcome in the long run. Whether you choose to satisfy Naoe’s thirst for vengeance or Yasuke’s complicated feelings for Lady Oichi, her fate remains the same. So, go with whatever decision feels right.

Should You Spare Lady Oichi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

If Yasuke chooses to spare Lady Oichi, she opens up about how she became part of the Shimbakufu and expresses her regret for her past actions. As a gesture of atonement, she hands over her brother’s legendary long katana, Myth Slayer. Afterward, Yasuke and Naoe share a heartfelt conversation before the mission concludes.

If players choose to attack as Naoe, she tries to stab Lady Oichi—but at the last moment, Kuma jumps in and takes the blow to the chest instead. Thankfully, in the next scene, Lady Oichi reassures everyone that Kuma will be fine. Her conversation with Yasuke plays out a little differently than if she had been spared outright, but the outcome remains the same.
