While going through the Sins of the Father side quest, you will find yourself with the Honorblade of Chorrol. After you have it, you are given a few options: you can return it to Laythe Wavrick in Castle Chorrol, give it to Fathis Ules, or take it for yourself. In this guide, we will explain what the choice of each option does.
How To Obtain The Honorblade of Chorrol
Two days after assisting the Jemane brothers in Legacy Lost, there will be a contact from a Dunmer thief by the name of Fathis Ules if you happen to be in Chorrol at the time.
Fathis discloses that the father of the Jemane brothers, Albert Jemane, worked for him as a professional thief. Albert was a dependable worker for many years until greed overtook him. Albert disappeared after he was dispatched to steal one final object, something Fathis is not going to tell you much about. He feels the object was taken up by the ogres who had recently acquired the Jemane farm.
Fathis next directs you towards the Redguard Valley Cave, which has now been overgrown by ogres. Inside it, you need to hunt down and slay the Ogre Chieftain. It is up to you whether to battle or pass quietly by the rest of the ogres.
On the Chieftain’s corpse, you will discover the Honorblade of Chorrol, the object Fathis is seeking. But your journal suggests perhaps the blade belongs in Castle Chorrol. Ultimately, it is your choice: give the blade to Fathis, or restore it to its proper place.
Should You Return Or Keep The Honorblade of Chorrol
If you choose to return The Honorblade to Laythe Wavrick, he will give you the Escutcheon of Chorrol, a magical shield that increases your Endurance and reflects damage. If you later visit the Jemane brothers at Weatherleah, they will reward you with four Grand Soul Gems.
Return The Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules
Alternatively, you can sell the blade to Fathis Ules. He will reward you with a great amount of gold, the value of which varies depending on your character’s level. Although this is an attractive proposition, most players prefer to keep the distinctive equipment and items you receive from Laythe over mere gold.
Keep The Honorblade of Chorrol for Yourself
Another option is to keep the Honorblade yourself. It is a good weapon, particularly in the early game, that does decent damage and assists you in harder fights. If you do this, you can still bring the blade back later to get the rewards when you are stronger. But if you decide to keep it forever, the quest will never be completed. If you want the overall best reward, the best option is to return the blade to Laythe Wavrick.
