Should You Give Sargamis the Relic in Avowed Dawntreader Side Quest

The Dawntreader side quest in Avowed presents players with a crucial decision: what to do with the Splinter of Eothas. This choice revolves around the enigmatic Oracle, Sargamis, and his plan to resurrect the god Eothas. Players have to navigate a tangled web of alliances, betrayals, and secret agendas, finally choosing whether to trust Sargamis, disobey him, or go their own way. This guide examines the various outcomes depending on your decisions, balancing the narrative implications, rewards, and experience points for each route.

Should You Give Sargamis the Relic or Not in Dawntreader Side Quest

From a story perspective, the best move is to give the Splinter of Eothas to Sargamis (the Oracle) and convince him to sacrifice himself in the Animancy device. This way, you get his awesome sword, “Last Light of Day,” without having to fight him. You can then talk to The Voice and help it merge with the statue. If you’re more interested in getting experience points right away, you can skip talking to Sargamis and take the relic straight to the Aedyran Embassy. Either way, you’ll still get the “Delver’s Caution” reward from Ofrye after finishing the Dawntreader quest.

So, you’re trying to resurrect the god Eothas with the Oracle (Sargamis). You follow his instructions, placing the Splinter of Eothas in the statue and flipping the switch. The statue starts to come alive, but then stops. Sargamis says it needs a “chime”—your life force—to work. If you agree, you have to stand under this device that kills you. You’ll respawn, but now you have a new objective: defeat the Oracle. It seems like there’s no way to escape this fight alive. Sargamis will attack you immediately. Basically, helping the Oracle resurrect Eothas is a dead end.

Should You Not Give Sargamis the Relic in Dawntreader Side Quest

If you refuse to help the Oracle, you’ll have to fight and kill him. Make sure to grab his sword, “Last Light of Day,” when you’re done. It’s a pretty good weapon with health restoration and bonus fire damage. Afterward, “The Voice” will contact you and ask you to communicate through some nearby Adra. It’ll ask you to put the Splinter of Eothas in the statue so you can “join soul into body.” Do this, flip the switch like before, and the statue will come to life this time.

The Voice will then contact you again, thanking you and saying it would like to inhabit the statue. It mentions that the body is fragile and needs to sleep undisturbed, asking you to keep it a secret. Basically, it’s asking for permission to take over the statue. You have two options: give it the statue, or destroy it. You can also ask some questions to help you decide. If you let The Voice have the statue, it will thank you and say it needs time.
