In Schedule 1, once you reach the mid-game, juggling plant management, mixing, packaging, and trash disposal can feel like tackling a group project—solo. That’s where employees come in. This guide covers where to hire them, how to assign tasks, and which ones are truly worth your investment.
How to Hire Employees in Schedule 1
You can only hire employees after 6 PM, and there’s only one place to do it. Head to the Warehouse District near Taco Tickler. Enter the building with vendors inside. Go upstairs and talk to Manny and select “I want to hire employees” and choose from four types:
- Cleaner – $100/day
- Botanist – $200/day
- Handler – $200/day
- Chemist – $300/day
Each employee also requires a signing fee when hired. Once recruited, you’ll assign them to a specific property, such as your bungalow, barn, or docks.
How to Assign and Manage Employees in Schedule 1
After hiring employees, head to the property where they work and equip your clipboard (press 9). Look at each worker and press E to open their assignment menu.
Cleaner Employee
- Assign them a bed.
- Assign nearby trash cans by clicking on them.
- Pay their wage by placing cash in the briefcase at the foot of their bed.
- They’ll automatically clean any trash within the range of their assigned cans.
Botanist Employee
- Assign a bed.
- Assign a supply shelf stocked with seeds and soil.
- Assign up to 8 grow pods.
- Set the seed type and any additives for each pod.
- Choose a destination rack for the finished product (or leave it blank, and they’ll decide).
- Botanists don’t need tools—they come pre-equipped with clippers.
Chemist Employee
- Assign a bed.
- Assign any chemistry sets and lab ovens.
- Select a recipe and destination for each station (e.g., chemistry set → oven).
- Set the final output rack on the oven.
- If they stop working, it’s likely because the recipe reset—just reassign it.
Handler Employee
- Assign a bed.
- Assign up to 3 packaging stations.
- Set routes from storage racks to packaging stations.
- Optionally, set a second route from the packaging station to an output rack.
- While handlers are useful, you’ll get better value by manually using the auto-packing machine. Skipping this employee wouldn’t be a huge loss.
Paying Employees & Beds
Each worker requires a daily cash payment. Interact with the briefcase at the foot of their bed and add bills. To avoid daily micromanaging, it’s best to pay them several days in advance.
Conclusion
If managing everything at once feels overwhelming, hiring employees will give you some much-needed relief. Start with a cleaner, then add a botanist and chemist as you set up grow operations and chemistry stations. As for the handler—unless you enjoy delegating, it’s best to skip them. They tend to be more trouble than they’re worth.
