Roots of Knowledge is a side quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Instead of fighting or exploring dangerous places, this quest is more about learning someone’s past and helping them in a quiet, personal way. You’ll meet a man named Eogan who hides away in a rooftop garden, and by earning his trust, you’ll uncover his story.
How to Start the Roots of Knowledge
In the Horns of the South fortress, you will find Eogan on top of the tower. To get there, head around to the back of the fortress and start making your way up. As you climb the wooden stairs, don’t go all the way to the top just yet; take the wooden path to the right instead. Follow it along, and you’ll come across a quiet little rooftop garden. That’s where Eogan spends his time.
Roots of Knowledge Quest Guide
Eogan doesn’t talk much, so to find out more about him, you’ll need to talk to his only friend. Head down to the Kitchen in the fortress and speak with Ruairc. He’ll open up about Eogan’s past, explaining that Eogan was once a revolutionary but gave up on his ideals because of all the political mess with the Captains.
After learning Eogan’s story, go back to the rooftop garden and talk to him again. Mention Ruairc, and Eogan will finally open up a bit. He’ll ask you to help him by planting some seeds and will hand over a pouch of Eogan’s Special Seeds. Pick any spot in the garden and plant them there. The plant takes 36 in-game hours to grow, so come back after some time and interact with it once it’s fully grown. You’ll harvest Eogan’s Mysterious Root. Bring it back to him to finish the quest.
