Red Dead Redemption 2 All Shack Locations

If you want to explore in Red Dead Redemption 2, the world is full of small, hidden shacks scattered across every region. These little buildings are usually far from towns, often abandoned, and each one has its own story or surprise waiting inside. Some even have beds you can sleep in, making them great places to rest while travelling. This guide will list all the known shack locations you can find throughout the game.

All Shack Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

A shack is basically a small, lonely little house tucked far away from towns. Most of them are abandoned by the time you discover them, though a few still have people or things inside. If you’re aiming for 100% completion, you’ll need to explore at least five of these shacks. Some shacks even come with usable beds. Below is an incomplete list of the shacks you can find in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Fairvale Shanty

You’ll find this shack way out east of Calumet Ravine and well north of O’Creagh’s Run. Inside, check the crates; you can pick up a gold nugget, a platinum pocket watch, and some jewellery. On your first visit, you can also grab a second Cattleman Revolver for free. It’s lying on the ground near two bodies inside the shack.

Flattened Cabin


Flattened Cabin is a wrecked, abandoned building in the Grizzlies East area of Ambarino. Inside, look for a lockbox that holds the Homing Tomahawk Pamphlet. Right outside, check the tree stump to pick up the Hewing Hatchet. You can also find a large piece of jewellery in one of the cabin’s drawers, so make sure to search the place carefully.

The Loft

The Loft is a small outpost in the Grizzlies East area of Ambarino. You can sleep in the A-frame tent at the campsite, and the campfire there is perfect for crafting. There’s also a bed inside the lodge that you can use to rest whenever you need.

Martha’s Swain

Martha’s Swain is a small homestead located southeast of O’Creagh’s Run, right near the Ambarino-New Hanover border. If you head to the tree stump just west of the shack, you’ll find a Rusted Hunter Hatchet stuck inside it.

Mysterious Hill Home

You can find the Mysterious Hill Home in the Grizzlies East area of Ambarino. The Poison Arrow Pamphlet is hidden here; it’s inside a lockbox tucked between some barrels on the right side of the house when you’re facing the front door.

Veteran’s Homestead

Veteran’s Homestead sits on the eastern shore of O’Creagh’s Run. It’s the home of Hamish Sinclair, a Civil War veteran you’ll meet during the story.

Cairn Lodge

Cairn Lodge sits by Cairn Lake in the Grizzlies West region of Ambarino, just east of Colter. Inside the lodge, look under the bed near the door there’s a lockbox hidden there containing the Poisonous Trail Treasure Map.

Bayall Edge

Bayall Edge is a small cabin located northwest of Caliga Hall. It sits on a little peninsula that curves into a small lake, and the shack itself is right at the edge of the water.

Crawdad Willies

Crawdad Willies is a small shack out in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. You’ll find it on a little island east of Shady Belle. The area around the shack is great for gathering. You can pick up Gator Eggs, Clamshell Orchids, and even the rare Ghost Orchid.

Macomb’s End

Macomb’s End is a small, rundown settlement in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. In the easternmost shack, check under the floorboards there’s a lockbox hidden there with an apple, some Chewing Tobacco, and a bit of money.

Canebreak Manor


Canebreak Manor sits just north of Saint Denis and a bit northeast of Lakay. The shack itself is on the left side of the platform, built from rough wooden planks with a makeshift sheet-metal roof.

Copperhead Landing

Copperhead Landing is a small jetty sticking out from the northeastern edge of Bluewater Marsh. If you look across the Lannahechee River, you’ll see Sisika Penitentiary to the southeast. This area is also a good spot to find Cigar Orchids scattered around.

Trapper’s Cabin


Trapper’s Cabin is located in the Bluewater Marsh region of Lemoyne. Inside the wardrobe, you can pick up both Predator Bait and Herbivore Bait, so be sure to loot the place.

Lonnie’s Shack

Lonnie’s Shack is located in the Scarlett Meadows area of Lemoyne. Inside, check under one of the bunk beds there’s a gun case with a Double-Action Revolver inside. In the original Patch Version 1.00, the revolver is a worn version instead of a clean one.

Six Point Cabin

Six Point Cabin is a criminal hideout tucked away in the Cumberland Forest region of New Hanover. It’s a small cabin with a campsite around it, including tents, wagons, and a few campfire spots. Inside the main cabin, look above the fireplace, you’ll find a Double-Barreled Shotgun hanging there.

Deer Cottage

Deer Cottage is a small, cosy cabin tucked away in the Roanoke Ridge area of New Hanover.

Meteor House

Meteor House is a cabin perched on a cliff in Roanoke Ridge, overlooking Roanoke Valley. It’s located east of Brandywine Drop and north of the valley. Inside, you’ll find a meteorite lodged in a hole in the floor, which reduces your exposure to heat damage by 10%.

The cabin is full of interesting items: the Cigarette Card of Hattie Langtry sits on a table, Fine Brandy rests on a coffee table near the front door, and Ground Coffee is on a shelf at the back. You can also find Canned Salmon and Canned Vegetables on a cabinet, and Hair Pomade tucked inside the wardrobe.

Reed Cottage

Reed Cottage is another cabin in Roanoke Ridge, filled with useful supplies. Inside, you’ll find things like assorted biscuits, crackers, Ground Coffee, Hair Pomade, and a Miracle Tonic perfect for restocking your essentials.

Larned Sod

Larned Sod is a ranch located in the Heartlands region of New Hanover, west of Emerald Ranch and southeast of Cornwall Kerosene & Tar. At the main house, you can find the Cigarette Card for Mittie Comstock sitting on a barrel in front of the door, and Valerian Root is tucked away on the mantle inside.

Lucky’s Cabin

Lucky’s Cabin is a ruined, abandoned cabin in the Heartlands. Most of the building has collapsed, leaving only the stone chimney standing as a reminder of what used to be there.

Brittlebrush Trawl


Brittlebrush Trawl is a river jetty in Hennigan’s Stead, New Austin, located south of the main settlement along the San Luis River near the Mexico border. This is where the final mission of the New Austin chapter, “We Shall Be Together in Paradise,” begins.

Greenhollow


Greenhollow is a natural formation in Hennigan’s Stead. Inside a small house, you can find a chest containing between $15 and $25.

Lake Don Julio House


Lake Don Julio House is a simple cabin on the southwestern shore of Lake Don Julio in Cholla Springs, New Austin. Inside, a cupboard holds a Canned Salmon.

Pleasance House


Pleasance House is a modest shack with some surrounding property west of Armadillo in Cholla Springs. Inside the shack, there’s a large chest to the left that contains Kentucky Bourbon and a money clip.

Riley’s Charge


Riley’s Charge is an abandoned military battlefield in Cholla Springs. The encampment, mostly burnt down, sits against a cliff northeast of Fort Mercer and west of Lake Don Julio, giving it a desolate, haunted feel.

Río del Lobo


Río del Lobo, or Wolf’s River, is a natural area in Cholla Springs. It’s a great place for hunting, with plenty of wolves, deer, and foxes roaming the area.

Silent Stead


Silent Stead is a small homestead in Gaptooth Ridge, slightly northwest of Tumbleweed. The property has a small animal pen and an outhouse at the northern edge. A railway and a road run in front of the house. Inside the cabin, a lockbox under the bed contains Potent Miracle Tonic and high-velocity rifle cartridges.

The Old Bacchus Place

The Old Bacchus Place is a cabin with a small dock in Hennigan’s Stead. While maps place it on a cliff along the San Luis River in northeastern Diez Coronas, in reality, it’s a modest home with a dock directly across the river, south of Thieves’ Landing.

The Scratching Post


The Scratching Post is a tiny, rundown shack in Gaptooth Ridge, near the San Luis River. The property is fenced and can be explored, yielding a few cans of food, some valuables, and an old necklace.

Two Crows

Two Crows is a ruined structure in Cholla Springs. It sits on a rocky outcrop south of Armadillo and just north of Riley’s Charge, consisting of a broken-down brick building amidst the rocks.

Vetter’s Echo


Vetter’s Echo is a cabin in the Big Valley area of West Elizabeth, located southwest of Hanging Dog Ranch across the Little Creek River. Be careful when you enter, a large grizzly bear lives inside and will attack you as soon as you step in, so you’ll need to fight it off.

Aurora Basin


Aurora Basin is a serene body of water in the Tall Trees region of West Elizabeth. It’s the only place you’ll find the Legendary Rock Bass. The area is also home to plenty of wildlife, including foxes, cougars, beavers, and bears.

Bearclaw Camp

Bearclaw Camp, known as Bear Claw in the second game, is an abandoned collection of rotting log cabins and huts just south of Manzanita Post in Tall Trees. Among the structures, you can find the Bear Claw Shack. At the bottom of the well on the property, there’s a lockbox containing some money.

Tanner’s Reach


Tanner’s Reach is a small cabin and encampment in Tall Trees, situated east of the river that flows south from Aurora Basin. Bears are commonly seen around this spot, and cougars frequently attack players here in both single-player and multiplayer modes, so stay alert.
