In The Outer Worlds 2’s main quest “Recalling the Score,” you wake up ten years later after the mission that went bust at Horizon Point. The quest reacquaints you with your crew, establishes where you’re going next, and unlocks companion quests for the first time. Here’s how to do every step and get the most out of this early story chapter.
Waking Up and Talking to Niles

Upon taking back control at the beginning of the mission, VALERIE will be in the middle of a conversation with your commander. In this part of the game, you’ll also be able to respec your character, so take a quick moment to redistribute your skills if you desire a new beginning.
Then, you’re free to do some exploring on the ship. Do be sure to visit the cargo bay (it’s to the right of the stairs to the bridge). Speak with VALERIE there to initiate her companion quest, “A Healthy Improvement.”
Take your time to investigate every room on the ship — there are more areas you can visit now, and there’s some loot you can pick up.
When you’re ready to proceed, make your way to the bridge and talk to Niles. He’ll bring you up to speed on what’s transpired while you’ve been gone ten years and what’s in store next. You’ll also have some personal conversation choices here; how you answer will influence your relationship with him subsequently.
Plotting a Course for Eden

After finishing your dialogue with Niles, speak with the Navigation Terminal on the bridge. Choose your destination as planet Eden, where the next part of your narrative starts.

Upon arrival, head back to the cargo bay. Talk to the big back door to initiate the descent to Paradise Island — your first real landing point in the game.
Disembarking on Paradise Island

As you land, the game presents you with the Companion System. You will notice the Party Selection screen, upon which both Niles and VALERIE are automatically members of your team. Confirm your party and continue.
When you land on Paradise Island, the quest “Recalling the Score” will be completed, effectively paving the way for the next major storyline in The Outer Worlds 2.
