Pokemon Legends Z-A Larvitar Location

If you are playing Pokémon Legends Z-A and are looking to include Larvitar and its evolutions Pupitar and Tyranitar on your team, you’re in for a treat. This evolutionary line is quite strong and is a favorite among trainers but are not the easiest to evolve or catch. Here’s everything you need to know about how to find Larvitar, catch it, and evolve it step by step.

Where to Find Larvitar

Larvitar is located in Vert Sector 2 and Bleu Sector 7 of Lumiose City. These are some of the final areas to explore in the city, so be prepared to judiciously hop from roof to roof. To access the roof in Vert Sector 2, ascend the ladder in the northern courtyard and proceed south. You may need to scale boxes and roll off edges to get across gaps to where Larvitar typically resides in some bushes. It’s a Rock/Ground type, so be careful not to slip!

How to Catch Larvitar

Catch Larvitar is challenging since it possesses strong resistance to most Poké Balls. Great Balls and Ultra Balls will increase your chances of capture. Its smokestack location on the top is a decent place from where you can creep up on it undetected. If battle is inevitable, keep in mind that Larvitar has low resistance to Water- and Grass-type attacks, so use Pokémon with those attack types to knock it out quickly.

How to Evolve Pupitar and Tyranitar

Larvitar evolves into Pupitar at level 30 after accumulating sufficient experience points from battles. Pupitar then evolves to Tyranitar at level 55. There is no natural spawning of Pupitar and Tyranitar in Lumiose City’s overworld—you need to evolve Larvitar to access them. If you wish to have all three on your party, it is advisable to catch more than one Larvitars since they respawn after a bit of game time or upon entry to Wild Zones.
