Pokémon Legends Z-A has a large collection of wild Pokémon available for catch, including beloved favourites from previous generations. Located in Lumiose City of the Kalos region, the game brings back familiar Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y, of which Abra—the legendary Psi Pokémon—is one of the most well-known due to its scarcity and elusive nature. Famed for its tendency to teleport when even a hint of trouble arises, Abra is both difficult to find and catch, but it makes a great addition to any team.
Finding Abra in Lumiose City

Abra mainly roams Wild Zone 1 and Wild Zone 5. Trainers can start by walking over the small pond located near a lone Pichu in Wild Zone 1. Opposite this area lies a ladder obstructed by several boulders, which must be cleared with a Pokémon capable of using Rock Smash. Upon ascending the ladder, proceed toward the right-hand section of the zone and climb higher to reach a nearby rooftop. There, a solitary Abra can often be observed, typically resting on the northern side of the structure.
Abra can be found in Wild Zone 5, close to the top-left portion of the map. Going inside from the central plaza, head to the area where there is a hidden ladder behind a sludge-covered barrier. A hydro-type attack will break through the sludge, opening the canal below. Go down, then head left until another ladder is visible. Following a brief ascend and then a quick climb up a second ladder, you will have another Abra on top of the roof with a lookout in the vicinity.
Effective Ways for Catching Abra

Catching Abra is all about precision and stealth. Unlike in earlier mainline games, Pokémon in Legends Z-A do not fall asleep immediately after defeat but get stunned for a brief moment instead. This provides a great chance to throw a Poké Ball before the beast disappears. When frightened early, however, Abra will try to teleport at once, so stealth is crucial.
Trainers are recommended to bend down and hide behind something and approach unseen. Pokémon status conditions—especially paralyze and freeze—are very useful in keeping Abra from escaping. In the event battle is required, a quick first attack that incapacitates Abra or attacks one of its weaknesses—especially bug, ghost, or dark-type attacks—is essential to bagging a successful catch. Individuals with access to higher-powered Poké Balls, like Great Balls, can simply avoid battle altogether and capture Abra instead.
Evolving Abra and Kadabra

If caught, Abra will naturally evolve into Kadabra when it reaches Level 16. To get Alakazam, however, a trade needs to take place between two players. This evolutionary process follows the same methodology as older Pokémon games, where there is still a feeling of cooperative advancement. Once Abra reaches its second stage, it can be traded using the Link Play ability found in the main menu.
Trainers are able to select the Local or Far Away options based on if the partner with whom they will be trading is close to them or online. Both parties will have to enter the same eight-digit trade code in order to create a session. Once the trade of Kadabra is done, it will automatically evolve into Alakazam. If trainers want to restore their initial Pokémon after the trade, they will have to open another exchange.
