POE2 Not Usable with Current Weapon Set Settings Explained

Seeing the “Not usable with current weapon set settings” message in Path of Exile 2 can make it feel like your build is broken or that you’ve set something up wrong. Your skills usually still work in combat, which makes the warning even more confusing. In most cases, that’s not true at all. This guide explains why this happens and shows you how to fix it until the issue is officially patched.

Not Usable with Current Weapon Set Settings Explained

The “Not usable with current weapon set settings” icon appearing on your skill gems does not imply that you cannot use those skills in the game. You are not at fault. It is a user interface bug rather than a limitation in gameplay. The game mistakenly indicates certain skills as unusable, while on the other hand, your character fulfils all the requirements.

How to Fix the Bug

The problem with auras is what’s causing this. Disabling an aura will cause the game to turn it off for both weapon sets; however, the skill display will not be refreshed properly. As a result, some skills will seem to be unusable while they are actually still functioning.

As a temporary solution to the problem, you will have to enable the aura for both weapon sets manually. To do this, first, click the small arrow next to the damage area to open the skill details. Up in the window, you’ll find two boxes for Weapon Set 1 and Weapon Set 2. Be sure that both are ticked. Upon completing this step, the “not usable” symbol will be removed, and the skill display will return to behaving normally.

This is a visual and UI issue, not a build or stat problem. Your skills work, your weapon requirements are met, and nothing is actually broken; the game just fails to show it correctly. Until this gets patched, double-check your auras and weapon set toggles whenever you see this message.
