Rootdredge
Path of Exile 2 introduces several intriguing optional bosses, including the Rootdredge, a massive undead creature composed of corpses and swamp trees. This formidable foe has the ability to command and detonate undead minions. While its combat mechanics are relatively straightforward, the sheer number of summoned enemies can quickly overwhelm you if you’re not careful. Rootdredge is one of the more grotesque bosses in PoE2 and is well worth facing if you’re looking to gather additional crafting materials and potentially score better loot.
Location
As you explore the Sandswept Marsh in Path of Exile 2, you may come across an area called the Foul Ritual, which serves as Rootdredge’s lair. When he awakens, a green flash appears on the screen, reminiscent of the color associated with corpses. This aligns with his ability to summon undead minions, which emerge from the surrounding brush.
Rewards
Defeating Rootdredge rewards you with level 9 Uncut Skill Gems as direct drop.
Mighty Silverfist
Mighty Silverfist stands out as one of the most challenging Unique bosses in Path of Exile 2, especially for players unprepared for its chaotic, monkey-themed attacks. While facing this boss is optional, defeating it at least once can give your character’s progression a noticeable boost.
Location
Mighty Silverfist, a Unique boss, can be found in the Jungle Ruins zone just outside the Ziggurat Encampment in Act 3. Since he’s an optional boss, players focusing on the main quests of Path of Exile 2 might overlook him. While the randomly generated maps make his exact location unpredictable, he always appears at the Temple Ruins landmark, which is typically situated near the center of the jungle.
Rewards
Mighty Silverfist isn’t linked to any quests, but defeating him for the first time rewards you with a Book of Specialization. This item grants two Weapon Set Passive Skill Points, which function similarly to regular Skill Points but can be allocated to either of your weapon sets in Path of Exile 2.

Rewards
When Napuatzi is defeated, she will drop various randomized loot and progression through Legacy of the Vaal main quest. However, don’t rush to collect it! Her troops will quickly swarm you, and you’ll need to eliminate them before you have a chance to go through your rewards.

All Permanent Boss Upgrades in Act 3 of Path of Exile 2
In Path of Exile 2, while most bosses drop quest-related items or Uncut Skill Gems, several bosses provide items that grant permanent character upgrades, like a Spirit increase. It’s recommended to prioritize these bosses in both the regular and Cruel difficulty levels.
On the world map, these bosses are marked with a skull icon and a small ‘+’ symbol. Here’s a more detailed guide on where to find them in Act 3:
- The Mighty Silverfist in the Jungle Ruins rewards you with a Book of Specialization upon defeat, granting an additional +2 passive points. The Mighty Silverfist will ambush you as you explore the area further.
- Xyclucian, the Chimera, drops the Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum upon defeat, which grants access to the Trials of Chaos quest and serves as a token to open the Temple of Chaos.
- Ignagduk, the Bog Witch, is easy to overlook in the Azak Bog. Servi at camp will give you a quest and reward you for locating her. More importantly, defeating Ignagduk for the first time grants you a Gremroot Skull.
- Blackjaw, the Remnant, is an optional boss found in the Oubliette area of Jiquani’s Machinarium. Seek him out before entering Jiquani’s Sanctum by veering off the main path on the red floor. Though a challenging fight, he’s well worth it for his Flame Core drop, which grants +10 Fire resistance.
- Mektul, the Forgemaster, drops The Hammer of Kamasa, which unlocks the ability to smelt down items into new ones.
And that’s everything you need to know about the Act 3 bosses in Path of Exile 2 as of the Early Access release.
