Painter’s Regret – Avowed Treasure Map Location

The Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret is one of the first maps found in Emerald Stair in Avowed. However, you must complete main quests before accessing the second region, as early entry requires permission. Treasure map quests aren’t difficult but can be time-consuming, requiring you to match the painted image with a real location. This guide will help you find the map, locate the treasure, and claim your reward efficiently.

How to Locate the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret

Unlike other treasure maps in Avowed that are purchased from merchants, the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret is discovered inside an abandoned house in Emerald Stair. Upon reaching the region, follow the dirt path until you find yourself east of Coastal Farms. Climb up to the house and enter to find a glowing painting on an easel. Interacting with it will initiate the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret side quest.

The Story Behind the Painting

Unlike other maps, this painting lacks text. However, a nearby journal on the couch, titled Painter’s Regret, provides insight into its meaning. The entry reveals that after the Dreamscourge plague devastated the Living Lands, the painter lost all inspiration. Before abandoning their craft, they hid their paintbrush, hoping that someone worthy would find it and carry on their artistic legacy.

How to Find the Treasure Chest and Equip the Painter’s Brush

To locate the hidden treasure chest, head southwest of Fior mes Iverno and activate the River Fork Beacon. From there, move north until you spot small rocks forming a path up a hill. Climb them, then proceed left to discover the chest. Inside, you’ll find the Painter’s Brush.

To equip it, open your inventory, navigate to the Accessories section, and scroll down to select the Painter’s Brush. Keep in mind that you can only equip one trinket and two rings at a time. Accessories provide various buffs, such as improving skills like Perception and Intellect or enhancing damage against specific enemy types.

The Painter’s Brush is worth 300 gold if sold, but it also provides a useful +5% Critical Hit Chance, making it a valuable choice for builds focused on critical hits. While it may eventually be replaced, it offers a temporary boost in combat. Pairing it with accessories like a ring that applies Poison damage on critical hits can further enhance elemental damage output and allow for a more strategic, ranged playstyle.

After collecting the Painter’s Brush, it’s recommended to return to a nearby camp to save progress before continuing with the main quest or another side quest. The enemies in the area can be quite challenging, so upgrading gear or finding better equipment should be a priority.

Whether kept for its stat boost or sold for extra gold, this trinket is a worthwhile reward from the Painter’s Regret Treasure Map in Avowed.
