How to Defeat the Otoroshi Boss

Otoroshi is a long-furred boss with two phases, and the fight changes a lot during the phase changes. When his health gets low, you can deal a lot of damage to him with Ninjutsu.
Phase 1
- At the start of the fight, Otoroshi has no legs. It drags itself across the ground using its huge arms and deals slow but heavy attacks.
- Otoroshi pulls one arm back and swings, then follows with another wide swipe. When you see the arm pulled back, move back or block to avoid both hits.
- It raises both arms and smashes the ground, creating an area-of-effect attack. As soon as both arms go up, move away from the boss.
- This starts like the ground slam, but after hitting the ground, ice spikes fall from above. Get away and keep running to one side until the ice stops falling.
- Otoroshi charges, slams the ground, then bites and thrashes you if it connects. Dodge sideways as it runs toward you. This attack deals lots of damage.
- The boss disappears into the shadows, then drops down on you with both arms. Once it vanishes, keep moving, then dodge as soon as it reappears.
- It pulls both arms back and claps, sending out a shockwave. Dodge before the clap lands.
- A few wide swipes followed by a ground slam. When you see the slam coming, move back quickly.
- Otoroshi glows red and pulls its arms back before clapping. Use a Burst Break as soon as you see the red glow.
When Otoroshi changes phase, you get a short opening. Hit him from behind once or twice. Then create distance from him.
Phase 2
Once Otoroshi loses about 25% of its health, it stands up on bird-like legs, becomes much faster, and adds leg attacks and ice weapons.
- Quick slashes using both claws. Dodge or block to avoid damage.
- It lifts one leg and lunges forward to stomp. Keep your distance and dodge when it lunges.
- Otoroshi vanishes and reappears, holding two ice clubs. It performs multiple slams and swings.
- Run far away when the combo starts, then attack after it finishes.
- Close-range leg stomps followed by a heavy arm slam. Dodge each stomp and retreat before the final slam.
- The boss jumps into the air and slams both ice clubs down. Dodge immediately when it leaps.
- Otoroshi spins twice with ice clubs, covering a wide area. When you see the clubs at its sides, back away fast.
- It roars and releases bats as a long-range attack. While the bats are out, move behind the boss and attack safely.
Phase 1 is slower, so learn the attack patterns. Phase 2 is faster, so keep your distance and deal damage in combos.
