Once Human Cold Crystal Ore & Hot Rock Ore Locations in The Way of Winter

Once Human might be just one of many post-apocalyptic survival games, but it stands out. Instead of merely surviving in a world torn apart by war or disease, we’re battling to save humanity from the deadly Stardust. This otherworldly substance transforms everyday objects into vicious monsters. The Cold Crystal Ores and Hot Rock Ore are new resources linked to the game’s temperature system. In this guide, we will explore the locations of Cold Crystal Ore and Hot Rock Ore and how to farm them.

Location of Cold Crystal Ore in Once Human: The Way of Winter

Cold Crystal Ores are important as you need them to craft Cold Resistance items like Coldium and Ice Crystals. Also, Cold Crystal Ore can be transformed into Coldium, offering protection against heat for one hour. In Once Human, you can find plenty of Cold Crystal Ores in the northwest section of the Vena Fjord region in northern Nalcott. Check the map below for the exact location. Over 20 Cold Crystal Ore nodes are scattered throughout this area, making them easy to mine if you know what you’re doing.

You can also find many Cold Crystal Ores in the nearby Onyx Tundra region. Onyx Tundra is a great choice for beginners, but Vena Fjord is better for experienced players since it’s near higher-level areas. Onyx Tundra is great for mining Cold Crystal Ores since you can also collect Startrace Ores, which are abundant there.

The best place to farm these ores is the green area west of Whalebone, where you’ll find over 20 Cold Crystal Ore nodes. It’s easy to access, and there’s a nearby teleportation tower, so you can quickly switch regions and continue gathering more Cold Crystal Ores.

How to Mine Cold Crystal Ore

Cold Crystal Ore cannot be mined like typical minerals. If you get close to the mineral node, you start to take damage. Before you approach the nodes, use any fire-based explosive. My personal favorite is the Molotov cocktail. Using grenades or any other explosive to blast the Cold Crystal Ore results in broken pieces of the cold crystal ore that cannot be collected anymore but can be used as projectiles, just like the red oil drums. So, if you farm the cold crystals, ensure you have plenty of Molotov cocktails.

Hot Rock is an essential resource. It is used to build Thermal Towers to manage the temperature surroundings of the player. These towers keep players warm and help them fight the cold. Hot Rock can be used to create Heatium, which provides protection against cold for an hour. Additionally, Hot Rock can be used to craft and upgrade gear and tools and create items that help beat cold.

You can find Hot Rock Ore in various locations throughout Once Human: The Way of Winter. One of the best spots to search is Ember Forge, where you’ll discover plenty of Hot Rock nodes and Ore scattered around at the coordinates (-5186, 4394).

You can also look for Hot Rock Ores near Fire Throat Fortress in the south. This area teems with vultures and has a high concentration of Hot Rock nodes, making it an excellent spot for farming. Just be sure to bring some Improved Frost Grenades to counter the extreme temperatures when you get close to a node.

Another way to farm Hot Rock is by taking the route from the Snake Eye Pass Teleporter to Sunsh Shroud Cave. This path is filled with vultures and has many Hot Rock nodes, making it an excellent option for collecting Hot Rock Ore.
