In Borderlands 4, the side mission No Place Like Home takes you through a mix of combat, puzzles, and exploration with Claptrap leading the way. You will need to find a portrait, recover VR-ON1CA’s processor, and track down a Crimson Resistance asset before wrapping it all up with a very Claptrap-style explosion. This guide will walk you through every step so you don’t miss a thing.
How to Start No Place Like Home

To start this side mission, you will need to track down Claptrap in the Hungering Plain. You will find him in the western part of the area, west of The Flarewell. He’s hanging out by a house near the river, sitting next to a campfire. Talk to him to start the quest.
Finding the Portrait

Once you accept the mission, Claptrap sends you east toward The Flarewell, an Order base. The place is heavily guarded, so be ready for a fight. At the entrance, you will run into a big, loud mini-boss called the Big Orange Hothead. Take him out, and you will grab the keycard from his body.

With the card in hand, head southeast from The Flarewell until you come across a medium-sized building. Look for some crates you can crawl under, then hit the switch to open the depot door. Drop down inside, keep moving forward, and climb the ladder that takes you into a room glowing orange with light. The portrait you’re after is sitting on a table surrounded by pictures.
Retrieving VR-ON1CA’s Processor

After grabbing the portrait, a nearby door opens. Step through and head upstairs to leave the depot. Your next stop is a bunker south of The Flarewell, where VR-ON1CA’s processor is being kept.

Here’s where things get a little tricky: you will need to solve a laser puzzle to open the bunker. Interact with the panel beside the laser, then rotate sonar panels by grappling them into position. Keep adjusting until the laser successfully bounces from one panel to the next, eventually unlocking the bunker entrance. Inside, you will find VR-ON1CA’s processor resting on a crate.
Finding the Crimson Resistance Asset

With the processor in hand, continue deeper into the bunker. Climb the wall on the left to get back outside, where you will see a tall tower looming ahead. Start your ascent, using the climbable walls and rotating panels you can hook with your grapple to keep moving upward.
At the top of the tower, you will discover a red portable toilet. Pop it open, and you will uncover the corpse of a Crimson Resistance asset named Rustknuckle. Loot the mask from the body and prepare to head back to Claptrap.
Claptrap isn’t done just yet. Once you return with the portrait, processor, and mask, he will ask you to destroy them. On a nearby table, you will find two bombs. Pick them up and attach them to the raft by the river. Claptrap will then shove the raft into the water, giving you the signal to shoot it. Pull the trigger, watch the explosion, and the mission will wrap up.
