Looking for the Magnum Opus in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? This guide will walk you through the Opus Magnum quest, starting with your initial lead, Erazim the Scribe, at Trosky Castle. You’ll quickly learn that the book is in the possession of Lord Nikvard Libak, and your quest will shift to tracking him down. Whether you choose to follow the quest step-by-step, engaging in all the dialogue and side activities, or prefer a quicker route straight to Nikvard’s location, this guide has you covered. Be prepared for a slightly…unconventional retrieval method for the Magnum Opus, and a potentially smelly surprise when you finally return it.
How to Start the Opus Magnum Quest
You’re on a quest to find a book for Kreyzl. Your first stop is Trosky Castle to see Erazim the Scribe. He’s supposed to know where it is. However, you’ll find out that Lord Nikvard Libak has had the book for ages and hasn’t returned it. So, your next step is to track down Nikvard if you want to get that book back for Kreyzl.
How to Find Nikvard in Opus Magnum Quest
You have two options here. You can play the quest “by the book,” so to speak, going through all the dialogue and actions to level up your skills. Or, if you’re in a hurry and just want to finish the quest quickly, you can skip all that and head straight to Nikvard’s location. Look for the red and yellow flag marker on the map – that’s where he is.
Erazim the Scribe has pointed you in Nikvard’s direction, and luckily, he can also give you some leads on where Nikvard was last seen. It’s really worth talking to Erazim about this, as he’ll mark these locations on your map, making your search much easier. You’ll need to speak to three different people.
First up is Bertha, the cook. Pro tip: dress in your finest clothes before chatting with her. You’ll need to pass a Charisma check to get the information you need. She’ll tell you Nikvard was suffering from a bad case of diarrhea and needed a bellyache potion.
Next, find Regina, Lord van Bergow’s maid. She has a message from Nikvard, but she can’t read. You’ll have to read it for her, and it reveals that Nikvard dropped the book in the, ahem, “loo.”
Finally, you need to talk to Hersh, the stable hand. Hersh’s information comes at a price – a longsword. Any longsword will do, so just pick one you don’t need anymore. This conversation will give you the final clue you need to find Nikvard.
Funny story, actually. It turns out Nikvard had some, shall we say, digestive difficulties, and the book, the Magnum Opus, ended up falling into the latrine. It traveled through the sewer pipe and landed outside the castle walls. You’ll find it right next to Nikvard… who, unfortunately, seems to have met an untimely end. Poor guy. The guard nearby won’t mind you grabbing the book, so go ahead and take it. Just a heads-up: the Miller might comment on the book’s, ahem, fragrance when you bring it back.
