Within the vast and vibrant landscape of Monster Hunter Wilds, hunters will be forever on the quest for worthwhile materials to craft and improve their equipment. Among these fundamental materials are the Aqua Sac and Flame Sac, crucial elements for water and fire-type equipment, respectively. This guide will identify the locations and the means of obtaining these vital resources, allowing you to be adequately prepared to weather the challenges that lie within the wilds.
Aqua Sac Location in MH Wilds

Aqua Sacs are materials you can gather from water-element monsters. You can earn them as Target Rewards when you claim your loot after a hunt. To farm Aqua Sacs, you’ll want to track down Balahara a large monster roaming the Windward Plains. Just keep in mind, the drop rate is only 18%, so you might have to defeat it a few times. Another option is hunting the Uth Duna, but the drop rate is even lower at 16%. If you decide to sell an Aqua Sac instead of keeping it, you’ll get 480z for it.
Balahara
Players can get Aqua Sacs as Target Rewards by defeating Balahara, a large monster found in the Windward Plains, the first ecosystem in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s worth noting that Target Rewards are given at the end of a hunt, separate from the items you get by breaking a monster’s parts, wounding it, or carving its body. Since Aqua Sacs don’t drop every time, you might have to take down Balahara multiple times before you collect this Equipment Material.
Uth Duna
Uth Duna is another large monster that can drop Aqua Sacs as a Target Reward. Players will first encounter it in the Scarlet Forest during Chapter 1-5. However, getting an Aqua Sac from Uth Duna is a bit tougher, with only a 16% drop rate making it rarer than the drops from Balahara. For those specifically farming Aqua Sacs, Balahara is the better option, but if you prefer to go after Uth Duna, you can still farm it through an Optional Quest that unlocks after you defeat it for the first time.
Flame Sac Location in MH Wilds

Flame Sacs are rewards for hunting monsters tied to the fire element. They’re used to craft upgrades and create new weapons and armor. The best way to farm Flame Sacs is by hunting Guardian Rathalos in the Ruins of Wyveria, where there’s a 20% drop rate. You can encounter this monster during the Ashen King quest or the optional His Eternal Reign quest. To boost your chances, focus on attacking its weak spots—like the wings and tail using focus mode, which makes it easier to repeatedly hit vulnerable areas. If you decide to sell a Flame Sac instead, it’ll fetch you 840z.
Guardian Rathalos

Guardian Rathalos’s biggest weakness is Dragon, with a 2-star weakness in every part of its body except the tail. While Thunder also works, it’s mostly effective against its legs. The tail, however, is resistant to Ice, Water, and Fire and the monster as a whole is resistant to Fire across all body parts. When it comes to status effects, Guardian Rathalos has a 2-star weakness to Stun, Sleep, Paralysis, and Blastblight, a 1-star weakness to Poison, and full resistance to Exhaust.
