In this quest, you’ll search the region for sealed bottles containing letters from the past and return them to a collector named O’Neal. This guide walks you through how to start the quest and where to find every bottle.
How to Start the Message in a Bottle Quest
You can start this quest right from your starting area. Head over to O’Neal, who is located near a small camp close to the starting zone. Speak with him, and he’ll ask you to bring him any bottles you find that contain letters. These bottles are scattered across the region, and each one tells a small story from the past.
Bottle 1 – Islwyn’s Chronicle of Avalon: part 1
The first bottle is hidden near the large temple at your starting location. Circle around the temple by following the mountain path along its side. Keep moving along the edge until you reach a spot where you can make a long jump onto a ledge. Once you land safely, you’ll find the first bottle waiting there. Inside is a Love Letter.
Bottle 2 – Love letter
From the temple area, jump down and move behind the structure. You’ll come across a small camp with a tent. Nearby, you’ll find a fallen traveler. Loot him to collect the bottle containing the Letter to Daddy.
Bottle 3 – Letter to Daddy
For the third bottle, fast travel to the area south of the quest giver. From the fast travel point, look for a large statue standing near a platform. Walk around the statue, and you’ll find a treasure chest nearby. Open it to get another Letter to Daddy.
Bottle 4 – Islwyn’s Chronicle of Avalon: part 2
From the same area, move slightly to the right. You’ll spot the remains of a broken, sunken ship. Climb inside the wreck. On a corpse within the ship, you’ll find a bottle containing Islwyn’s Chronicle of Avalon: Part Two.
Bottle 5 – The message that never arrived
Start from the shrine and head west, then move south until you reach the road. Follow the path carefully. You’ll find a pool of water where strong currents push you upward. Stand in the water and let it lift you onto nearby rocks. From there, wait for the next current to push you higher. Once you reach the ledge, drop down carefully. On the body below, you’ll find a bottle containing The Message That Never Arrived.
Bottle 6 – Old Royal Geographer’s Note
Exit through the northern gates and head toward another sunken ship. Inside, you’ll find a corpse holding a bottle with the Old Royal Geographer’s Note.
Returning the Bottles to O’Neal
Once you’ve collected all the bottles, return to O’Neal and hand them over. He’ll reward you with 800 gold coins for each bottle you deliver.
After turning them in, O’Neal will mention a strange bottle he’s never been able to open. This bottle reacts only at the place where it was originally found. The quest updates and marks the location on your map. Travel to the marked location and interact with the bottle there. The final part of the quest is straightforward from this point, and it reveals the truth behind the mysterious message.
