As Good As Gold Quest in Tainted Grail
This adventure is all about repairing a unique necklace and assisting someone in gaining a new purpose in life. It begins when you hear Elaine, a sweet woman, speak of a necklace that holds great significance for her. It was given to her by Lady Kincaid, but the chain is broken. She’d left it to be repaired by the local blacksmith, Osprit, and asked you to see if it’s done.
If you go to Osprit, he tells you that although he’s marvelous with swords and armor, precious jewelry isn’t exactly his specialty. He fears he could hurt it worse if he attempted to repair it. He hands the necklace back over to you and recommends asking around the village to locate someone better versed in delicate repair.
That’s where you meet Ellis, a goldsmith with a shady history but a true love for his work. When you bring him the necklace, you can tell that goldsmithing is something he loves. He fixes the necklace with care and returns it to you.
Elaine is amazed at the repair. She’s so impressed, she offers to write a letter of recommendation, making Ellis a blacksmith’s apprentice. Then he can continue doing what he loves, and Osprit receives an able assistant. You present the letter to the Quartermaster, and he goes along with the arrangement.
