In this guide, we will walk you through how to start the quest, where to find Malachy, and what to expect as you continue the storyline.

To find Malachy’s letter, fast travel to the East Gate in the Horns of the South and head toward The Gallows. Be careful, though, there are enemies in that area, so stay alert. Once you are there, look around for a crate on the gallows. Inside, you will find a Letter From a Shady Merchant.

Once you find the Letter From a Shady Merchant, read it, and you will learn that someone named “M” is looking for three strange items: a Hanged Man’s Noose, an Ogre’s Right Toe, and some Drowner Tongues. Take the letter you found to Malachy. To find him, head northwest to the Deserted Settlement in the Horns of the South. This is where you will meet Malachy, the shady merchant mentioned in the letter.

Talk to him and choose the option, “Did you write this letter?” Then follow the conversation as you show him what you found at The Gallows. Offer to help him collect some rare items. This will start the quest called Drowner Tongues for Malachy. After that you can complete the quest to access him as merchant in the game.
